Giving Directly To The Poor

Helping unfortunate strangers is a virtue seldom practiced. Most people rely on the government or private agencies to help those in need. But for every dollar that is supposed to go to the needy only ten cents gets there, the rest is spent on administrative costs. Some executive workings for charities have incomes of over a million dollars a year. They have little concern for others. Human greed and corruption is only partially the blame.

Fund raising is not easy. It takes talent to get people to part with their hard earned money. Some fundraisers are paid commissions as high as fifty percent. They deserve it because without their talents there would be nothing collected. Not only politicians use fund raisers but also organizations that help the needy. A poor person would not even get a dime if the fundraiser was not collecting a dollar. This system has been going on since the beginning of time. The fund raiser has always been a needed part of society.

Houses of worship are known for their humanitarianism. They are always speaking about the poor and how important it is to help them. But they could never exist without charitable donations. That is why the poor box is passed around at religious services. Most of that money goes to church workers who have to eat and pay their expenses. The rest is given to the poor. The success of a church leader is based on how much is collected. The most popular ones collect millions. They could be called fund raisers rather than raisers of the spirit. But without them religious organizations would go broke.

There are better ways to help the poor or unfortunate besides having others doing it for you. The best way is to deal directly with them. The first thing you should do is put a lot of thought into the type of person you would like to help. We all have our preferences. Donors want their money going to people that deserves it most, not the lazy types that do not make any attempt to help themselves. The most deserving I believe are those that are the victims of unfortunate circumstances. Workers who have lost their jobs and are on the verge of having to lose their homes are most deserving of our compassion. We don't have to go far to find them.

The anonymous donor is the most virtuous because what is given is not for recognition but for compassion. If you would like to help, but don't know how to start, put whatever is affordable into an unsigned envelope. Drop it into the mailbox of some unfortunate person. In that way you will be eliminating the necessity of the fundraiser and every dollar will go directly to those that need it most. If you would rather let the fundraisers or the government be responsible for helping the poor or unfortunate you are neglecting your duty as a humanitarian.

The first fifty years of editorial stock photography were lean years for photographers.

Few photographers imagined their photos were worth much more than the immediate compensation they received from a magazine, book publisher or assignment client.

In addition, to save filing space, many photographers threw out extra "baggage" of "outdated" images. Little did they realize they were tossing away a gold mine.

In the early days, some photographers had special agreements with their publishers or newspaper and magazine editors that ownership of the photos bought, could revert back to them (the photographers) after three years. In some cases it was a shorter period of time. (This was in the days before the revision of the

Almost everyone drives nowadays. However, cars do not last forever. For many different reasons, people purchase new vehicles. Some people just want to drive a different car every year. Some people just like how it feels to drive new cars. Other people drive their cars until they are unable to be drive anymore.

The options are wide when you decide to buy a new car. There are endless models and types that you can choose from. You can either buy a new car, or a used one. Even though we need to make up our mind on a number of things for the new car, we should also think of the options that are available for the trusted old vehicle.

Whether or not your car is still drivable, there are a number of options for it. You should consider donating your car to a charity to serve the greater good. If the car is not drivable, some charities will dismantle it and sell the parts.

Try searching the internet for places where you can donate your car. This will make it easy to find somewhere. If possible, keep the towing cost to a minimum by donating your car to a local charity. So, if you live in New York, don't search for "car donations Los Angeles" - but if you do live in Los Angeles then "car donations Los Angeles" is an excellent search term to use.

While donating your car is a great benefit to others, it is not without its personal benefits. You should keep in mind that if you donate your car to a charity, you could receive a tax deduction. You need to keep a receipt from the charity to record it when you file your taxes.

A great way to make room for your new car is to donate your old car to a charity. When selecting the charity, you should pick one that reflects your values and makes you feel good about helping them. There are many charitable organizations that accept car donations. Some of them benefit medical research, others help under-privileged children. You can also donate your car to a catholic charity. To find one, use the phrase "catholic car donations" to further delimit your search for "car donations Los Angeles".

Finding a place to donate you car can be done easily by performing an Internet search. It is preferable to donate your vehicle to a local organization to reduce the towing costs. There are personal benefits associated with donating your car, besides helping others. You can receive a tax deduction if you donate your car to a charity.

Donating a car in favor of cause oriented groups is a great way to help many people who are experiencing difficulties in life. If you want to make a big difference in your life and in the lives of other people, then, the right decision is to make a car donation right now.

Car donation helps young people who belong to underprivileged communities attend schools and achieve their simple dreams in life. Through the efforts of people who want to change the direction of lives of young children, many are given new hope in what seems to be hopeless situations.

Definitely car donation as a means of raising needed funds is one perfect idea and a major factor to attain this goal.

Funds raised through car donation also help families affected by natural disasters like hurricanes and floods. Usually, communities which were affected by these disasters find it difficult to start over again. In this respect, cause-oriented groups and their collective efforts become the light that guides families in their quest to find the right way to make a new beginning.

Car donation and funds generated from it also help people with serious sickness. Funds are used to provide much needed medicine and food so that they can get better. Funds through car donation also provide temporary shelter to people caught in cross fire.

Your decision to donate your car to charity not only helps other people as it can also help you at a certain extent. You can get IRS tax deduction and you can also find a way to sell your used car. If you are going to purchase a new car, donating your used car will allow you to skip the bulk of paper works that is associated with selling used cars.

Car donation is not only limited to second hand cars that work. You can also donate your car that doesn't work anymore. An auto donation company would be willing to tow it for you without paying any cent.

If you are interested, you can check various offers given by lots of companies engaging in car donation programs. They can easily be contacted online or by phone. These companies have their own websites so you will not have any problem if you want to ask them things about car donation.

Donating car for charity is something you should really consider when you are in the process of deciding where you should sell your used car. By donating your car to charity, you are actually giving new hope and life to people who have somehow lost the belief that there is still hope for everyone so long as we breathe.

Yes, you might loss some bucks in doing so but, remember there are things that money can't purchase and one of these is the feeling that you have just saved another person's life. Car donation program can really spell the difference that the world somehow needs in these trying times.

Nonprofit donations have become a topic of high interest. If you are not yet familiar with what nonprofit donations mean, then it is time for you to start learning. Why? Because you will be surprised to find out that such donations can help you in numerous advantageous ways.

So, if you are working in an organization that fights for good causes, then nonprofit donations are your thing. But even if you own a business, you can still benefit from such donations. The first thing that a non profit donation can offer you is funds - and who can say "no" to extra money? But besides money, there are a few other benefits worth mentioning.

If you ask some individuals that have opted for nonprofit donations in the past, you will see that the most important thing you can achieve is awareness. In other words, a non profit donation operates just like an ad. Only in this case, we are talking about a free advertisement. And you all know that, with the right project, the right ad and a little determination, you can gain appreciation and respect from clients or partners.

You are probably convinced by now that organizing a nonprofit donation is a great idea. Now, the question remains: how exactly can you start? What do you need to do in order to have successful nonprofit donations? For starters, simply observe if there are such donations in your community. You will see that some businesses have small boxes where they collect money near the registers.

How can you select the most suitable jar for your nonprofit donations? Even if you might be inclined to think that this is a minor aspect, the fact is that it is quite relevant. So, your collection box should definitely be see-through, in order to stimulate the donors to contribute. Next, your container has to have a small opening, so that nobody can remove money from it. If you are really determined to find the ideal box, then you need to make sure that you get one with a lock.

But the jar you use is not the only small detail that makes a difference. Along with the nonprofit donations container, you must have an appealing ad. What for, you ask? Well, this ad should promote your project in order to determine people to support your cause.

You can not actually start your nonprofit donations without answering some basic questions first. For starters, what exactly do you have in mind? What are the main benefits and results of your project? How much money do you need? And how exactly are you planning to spend them?

It is not mandatory to have a specific project, actually. Some organizations that help children or elder people opt for nonprofit donations in order to get money for daily expenses and activities.

At this point, you are ready to plan your future nonprofit donations. If you manage to attract people's interest, you will definitely benefit a lot from these nonprofit donations. Use the funds optimally and achieve your noble causes!

Nonprofit donations are the fast way of sourcing funds for your charity or any worthy cause. Website InCharityD by Livia Monroe provides trusted advice and newest practical tips to improving your results.

Issues of world poverty, lack of clean water, drought, famine and the lack of basic services seem like problems that are too big for any one person to tackle, and they probably are. But we need to ask ourselves, what is it that we can do to help people around the world to reinvent themselves to create better opportunities and lives other than simply give money.

More important than money are ideas. Ideas can be much more like a life compass and provide direction for the future rather than just give a small item that solves a need for just today. An idea can change a life, change a family, change a community and change a world. Just one idea, nurtured and grown with love and care can create better lives in distant places.

Business is often thought about as being cut-throat, mean and nasty but a new form of entrepreneur has emerged that creates thriving and successful enterprises but focuses services on a need and solution that improves the quality of people's lives. This new type of entrepreneur creates social enterprises that can not only operate as a fully functioning for-profit business but reinvest profits back into the business to carry on the mission of hope and help.

The Myvesta Foundation has launched a new website, Business Idea of the Day, to provide ideas to spark the imagination and creativity of entrepreneurs around the world. These ideas are as simple as needing a bucket and sponge to start a new business or as complex and highly technical ideas that involve satellites and new technology.

People that never thought that they could own their own business have found themselves as budding entrepreneurs with just a cell phone to sell telephone access to local villagers, they've invested in small man powered irrigation pumps to help grow more crops, and even purchased small water cleansing systems to purify otherwise contaminated water for a village to drink.

The lack of access to opportunity does not occur only in distant lands down dirt roads, but also in the inner cities of America and Europe. Economic creativity is a vital key to help revitalize areas that suffer from a lack of investment and opportunity and rather than needing a hand out to make life better, an idea and a hand up through distant mentorship can be even more powerful.

It would be wrong to assume that the lack of economic opportunity is only a problem of the poor, those in inner cities or those lacking basic supplies. Even middle class individual and families, weighed down by personal debt and unable to gain more income through regular employment can find the ideas on Business Idea of the Day to create new financial opportunity to get out of debt without bankruptcy, credit counseling, another debt consolidation loan or other outside assistance.

All business ideas are welcome and with the help and support of many people around the world, hopefully the Business Idea of the Day site can become a global resource for people of all ages and opportunities to use to change a life for the better.

I Support Child Cancer

Posted by Prue Morland | 12:43 PM | 0 comments »

The other day I was at a supermarket and they had a collection box for charity. On the front, it has a sign: "This Store Supports Child Cancer". Of course this is supposed to make us want to shop there more, well, it did. I thought if this supermarket wants to see children dying as much as I do, then the least I can do is spend my hard earned money there.

Of course, we take blessings like child cancer for granted. We don't think about who is funding the fight against children. Someone has to, and I for one am glad that this store has taken some initiative and helped in the battle.

But this store alone can not do everything, the world is a big place. We all need to donate towards the Child Cancer Fund to help get rid of children forever. It is obvious we are not doing enough, as there are still children around. Just the other day I saw a little girl in the street. I jumped out of the shadows where I was hiding and slit her throat, someone has to take some initiative, there were people all around and none of them even attempted to get the girl. I am ashamed to share a species with those plocs.

Car Donation Centers in California

Posted by Prue Morland | 12:43 AM | 0 comments »

Cars are very in demand to many car enthusiasts, they are increasing in number for the last several years, and this is taking financial costs to many Americans. This situation is very tough and a problem to the poor families in the US.

There are 20 percent ratios of American families who are considered poor- they cannot buy a car- expenses is 40.2 percent for their transportation fee as reported by Surface Transportation Policy Project, this is a non-profit organization who studied transportation alternative choices.

In the latest update, increase in gas pricing up to $ 3 plus, the expenses in transport is targeting commuters, this affect to the drivers. Costs that is easy for the pocket is a big problem that until now has no solution. Meanwhile there is a group who come up with an idea to reprocess, repack and drive again techniques so that the transportation expenses will be lessened. The idea here states that To make use of cars that people doesnt use or seems to dislike them, and to let others use it.

The thinking of this type, of donating cars, goes up to a figure of six to seven thousand people who donate cars every year. This thinking in demand to people in US was able to help lots of families; some had been purchase and others to specific charities.

The scheme of reasonable costs in transportation will never be a luxury as told by STPP. This will simply imply the difference in working in a day to day basis and getting their infrequently. This is a circumstance that is very true to all US residents who work in school as medical personnel this is very impractical if you have no car.

Those families whose revenue is low is suffering like those of the other countries world wide for the past several years, several organization is planning for a car, who will have natures, best style for pollution free earth.

The sprawl in the provinces targeting the low generating family will be very difficult for them if they have no car. The STPP we will not be able to fix everything, but we can provide affordable transport in the initial costing of car

Car Donation - Know What Your Options Are

Posted by Prue Morland | 12:43 PM | 0 comments »

In the US it's possible to donate a car, boat or any other vehicle to certain charities, and in return be able to claim a nice tax deduction on your personal income tax return. If your car donation is accepted, the charity takes care of the towing expenses and provides you with the necessary documents you'll need to complete your return. The process for charitable car donation is simple and convenient.

Some charity car donations may not qualify for the tax exemption because of the condition they're in. And if you don't intend to deduct the vehicle donation on your income tax return, no further action is necessary. For cars that sell for less than $500, charities don't need to send you a form, but you'll still be able to deduct up to $500 in taxes.

There are a few exceptions to be aware of in the new tax law regarding the fair market value section: for one example, you may base your deduction on the vehicle's fair market value only if the charity sells it to an individual in need at a discounted price or if the charity uses the car as part of its mission instead of selling it. The donor is responsible to an extent to determine the value of their car donation. If your car, truck, boat, motorcycle, RV or aircraft is no longer of any use to you, it can still go a long way by supporting the charity of your choice.

The donor of the vehicle benefits from the donation by receiving a tax receipt for the highest possible value of the vehicle. With the new rules the donor can deduct only the amount the charity actually receives for the vehicle. One of the exceptions to the new IRS regulations allows the donor to still deduct the fair market value of their vehicle, provided that the charity materially improves the vehicle.

Cars can be donated to the recipients directly or sold and the money given to charity. Some charities have the capability of repairing or performing maintenance on a vehicle and getting it ready for sale. Don't let your unused vehicle go to waste just sitting around.

For states that require smog or safety inspection certificates, you can still donate your vehicle without these documents. But make sure to have your title handy when you call in your donation. It's not common knowledge but some car donors in need of a new vehicle even buy a recently donated and repaired vehicle.

The amount you list on IRS Form 1098-C, Contributions of Motor Vehicles, Boats, and Airplanes will be the gross not net proceeds of the deductible donation. The vehicle is usually marketed by the charity and sold to a buyer in need of a good used vehicle. Some charities, that run their own program instead of hiring a car donation program middleman, are discriminating about which vehicles they will accept, repair and materially improve. They sell most of their vehicles at retail not wholesale.

In some cases charitable car donors can still claim the fair market value for their used vehicles. The charitable organization uses the profit they derive from the vehicle to help fund their specific programs. You may also easily donate your car online to individual charities or to car donation programs.

Regardless of the laws, it's a good idea to protect yourself by having insurance coverage on your vehicle up until the moment it's donated. And best of all, by not selling your car yourself, you don't have to worry about total strangers calling you up to get information about where you live, or coming to your house to see the vehicle. Once you've made the arrangements and received the forms from the charity, have them filled out and ready when the driver comes to pick up the car.

Major charity car donation programs include: the Kidney Foundation Car Donation Program, Target Car Donation Program, and Goodwill Industries Car Donation Program. Other major charity car donation programs include: Make A Wish Foundation and the American Red Cross. Whatever the case, your car donation, like any other charitable donation, will help someone in need and it will make you feel good to help in some way.

Instead of going through the hassles of selling your car yourself you could donate it to a car donation center. These centers are either charities or work together with charities. If the center is an approved one, you will be able to deduct a certain amount of money from your tax return Let us examine some of the car donation centers in San Francisco

Habitat for Humanity in one association which builds homes thought community engagement in partnership with working families. In fact the average price of a home in San Francisco is about $746,000? In choosing this center, you are allowing the homeless to have a roof over their heads.

Car Donation Services or CDS is another association you might one to consider. This car donation center claims that they are able to obtain higher prices from the sale of a vehicle. This in turn would imply that the charity benefits much more from the sale and that you get a greater tax write-off.

San Francisco city chorus is one more car donation center. As implied by its name, this association is concerned with choral classics as well as traditional and folk music. You might want to help them.

The San Francisco SPCA is one car donation center you would like to have recourse to if you love animals. This association is devoted to saving cats and dogs which live in the streets. It also sensitizes people about awareness of the needs and requirements of animals as well as the necessity of having a human-animal bond.

If you choose to donate via Kars4Kids, you might even receive a free vacation voucher for a 2 night 3 day hotel stay. This does in no case impact on the tax deductions or the care given to children. You can thus be rewarded for your donation.

Car4causes in another car donation service that claims that if you deal with them you will be getting higher tax deduction and the charity obtaining more money. According to them, they achieve these results by selling the car through their retail locations rather than through auctions.

Well, you now have a broader idea of the services you might have recourse to. I really hope that you do choose a car donation center instead of selling your car.

Cord blood banking is a relatively new concept. It is only in the last ten years that parents have seriously begun to bank their baby's cord blood. While the practice of banking cord blood is still not common it is becoming more popular as people begin to learn about its benefits.

Cord blood is the blood that remains in umbilical cord after a live birth. Currently the umbilical cord along with the placenta and associated blood are all discarded after birth. Cord blood stem cells have more extensive uses than bone marrow stem cells and do not face the controversy that is associated with embryonic stem cell research.

Cord blood stem cells can develop into various types of cells such as muscle, nerve or blood cells. Since these cells can regenerate immune system and repair damaged cells, they have the potential to treat heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, stroke, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson disease.

Cord blood may indeed be the way of the future. Currently, it can treat more than 75 diseases, immune deficiencies and other conditions. It is effective for treatment of certain types of cancer, blood disorders and auto-immune diseases. The cord blood can be used not only by your child, but also other family members.

In recent stem cell breakthroughs, researchers were able to develop bone and cartilage, and grow mini liver and lung cells from cord blood stem cells. These cells can potentially be transplanted into the body to repair damaged organs, thus overcoming the severe shortages of organ donors. Researches are hopeful that cord blood stem cell transplant can regenerate into organs inside or outside the body and saves many lives. There is less chance of the body rejecting the new organ regenerated from your own cord blood.

There are 2 types of cord blood banks: private and public. If you want to bank your baby's cord blood for use by your child or other family members, then you should choose a private cord blood bank. However, private cord blood banking can be costly as you have to pay for the cord blood collection process and annual storage fees. There are cases you should consider storing cord blood privately. Parents of children of ethnic minorities are encouraged to bank their baby's cord blood as it is difficult to find bone marrow match. Private cord blood banking is also recommended where there's a family history to diseases only treatable with cord blood.

Cord blood stored in a public bank can be used by anyone who needs it.

If you decide to bank your newborn's cord blood, you will need to choose a cord blood bank ahead of the birth, typically at least a month or two before the due date. Once you fill out the paperwork and inform your doctor and hospital about the decision. Many hospitals are not equipped to handle this immediate cord blood collection at the birth and special arrangements may need to be made. The cord blood will be collected and returned to the bank of your choice to be stored for later use if needed.

Cord blood banking is an insurance against future diseases. There have been several cord blood stem cell breakthroughs in recent years. Learn about the miracle of cord blood by visiting

HIV AIDS: Helping Along the Way

Posted by Prue Morland | 12:43 PM | 0 comments »

HIV/AIDS continues to dramatically affect people all over the world despite preventive measures such as educational awareness and testing programs and treatment initiatives such as drug research and development. Even in the United States, where government funding, medical technology, and education would seemingly defeat this disease, the epidemic continues. According to the United States Center for Disease Control (CDC) over 1,000,000 people are living HIV/AIDS in this country and approximately 40,000 new cases are reported each year. Although high, this is a significant drop from the new annual cases reported during 1980's, which approached 150,000.

The statistics from the CDC are an important resource for tracking changes and measuring the impact of efforts, whether focused on treatment or prevention. An overview of recent data reveals important trends. First, prevention awareness and educational programs that aim to inform and promote less risky behavior are reducing the number of new cases within the United States.

Second, despite the efforts of these programs people are continuing to transmit HIV/AIDS. This is largely due to risky behavior revolving around drug use and unprotected sex, but continued lack of HIV/AIDS testing is also to blame. It is estimated that close to thirty percent of people infected with HIV are asymptomatic and do not know it. Routine testing remains major priority, and as such, officials have tried to institute these blood tests as a routine clinical procedure.

Third, while the number of new active cases has decreased, the number of people living with HIV/AIDS has increased. This illustrates the improvements of drug therapy. Successful drug regimes help contain HIV so that it does not become AIDS and help the body fight off opportunistic infections – infections or diseases that can capitalize on a weakened immune system of an HIV/AIDS patient, but not in a healthy person – which are normally the ultimate cause of death.

Thanks to these efforts and more, today's picture is brighter than the past. People with HIV/AIDS are now living longer and healthier lives, but they still face serious health problems. These complications include aversion to medicine, afflictions stemming from a weakened immune system, and adverse effects of the infection itself. Because of these on-going vulnerabilities, in 2004 HIV/AIDS was reclassified from an infectious disease to a chronic disease. As such, the treatment strategy, adopted from the Guide to Primary Care for People with HIV/AIDS, stresses a comprehensive long-term model that involves clinical attention, proactive community groups, and self-management.

Within this model, the contributions of community groups provide HIV/AIDS patients with resources and support to improve their lives. Services and direct care programs help patients with financial matters, housing, nutritional needs, counseling, support groups, and transportation. Given that the national budgets are invested in large-scale educational programs and research, individual impact is felt most strongly when contributions go to organizations that provide services directly to individuals in need.

Nearly 200,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year and over 40,000 will die from it. There are seven different types of breast cancer, some more severe and with a lower survival rate than others.

One breast cancer type called inflammatory breast cancer, or IBC, is a unique and aggressive kind that is rare, accounts for 1 - 5% of all cases, but deadly. It is one of the only breast cancer types that have no lumps, which makes it one of the most undetectable and scariest.

There are four breast cancer signs that could mean you have inflammatory breast cancer:

o Skin around the breast is hot to the touch

o Breasts are asymmetrical and were not before

o The skin becomes red or pink

o There is discharge from the nipples

Below are six frequently asked questions about inflammatory breast cancer.

What should you do if you if you have these symptoms?

If any of these signs persist for more than a week, speak to a physician.

What is the median age affected?

Women 45 – 55 are more susceptible to this specific type of breast cancer.

How do you identify inflammatory breast cancer?

Through surgical biopsy; IBC cannot be identified through Mammogram, Ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), or Core biopsy.

What is the survival rate?

IBC has a 40% survival rate over a five year period. Many times the surgeon may remove the breast too early and cause a reoccurrence.

How is Inflammatory Breast Cancer Treated?

Chemotherapy before surgery, as well as drugs such as trastuzumab and lapatinib.

BOILERPLATE:

If you know of anyone or you yourself are being faced with the signs of inflammatory breast cancer, see a physician as soon as possible. If you have already been diagnosed seek out support through the MyNBCF breast cancer message boards.

The IRS has taken steps to take the guesswork and confusion associated with car donation tax deduction with a new law. When January 1, 2005 rolled around, you were able to deduct the full price that the charity of your choice receives for the sale of your car.

Many times people were hesitant to donate their car to a charity that so desperately needs the help simply because of the hassle involved in finding the fair market value of their vehicle if the vehicle was worth more than $500. Often the donator had to look up the car they were looking to donate in the infamous Blue Book to get an estimate for the fair market value in order to get the full benefits of a car donation tax deduction.

With the new law if your car sells for more than $500 at the auction where your car will be sold, the charity is obligated to send you a receipt that has your name and vehicle identification number or VIN of your car. They must also state that your donation was arms length which means that the person or organization you donated your car to is not related to you in any way whether it is your family or a business associate. They must also include the selling price of your car. This is the fair market value price. It is that simple. No more searching through records and books trying to find the right numbers to make your car donation tax deduction.

If the car you donate is sold for less than $500, it is up to you to determine the fair market value as long as the figure is below $500. The tax receipt that the charity is required to send you will be less detailed and will merely acknowledge your donation. The information included on the tax receipt will be your name, the date of the donation and a brief description of the vehicle.

The simplification of the laws concerning car donation tax deduction is good news for charities. How to effectively make a fundraiser less time consuming and more cost efficient with online fundraising capability.

Fundraising through various activities as sales, silent auctions, walk-a-thons, races, or entertainment events is a popular revenue generator for charitable and non-profit organizations. However, quite a few obstacles exist in the pursuit of running a successful fundraiser, including lacking or overworked volunteers, limited payment methods, limited reach, and overall process inefficiencies.

Fundraising organizers are realizing that in order to complete the event with a significant amount of raised revenue, it must be run as efficiently and resourcefully as a business. Websites, online payment capability, and electronic payment processing are three key factors that can help overcome many of fundraising's obstacles.

A website with online payment functionality not only enables your fundraiser to reach past the local neighborhood, but helps to automate processes. Customers can enter their own information into the secure online form and the transaction is processed automatically. Volunteers no longer have to spend countless hours sorting paper checks and making trips to the bank.

Donors also appreciate the ease of being able to give donations online as their own busy schedules permit—instead of having to make time during regular business hours. They also like being able to choose from a variety of payment options including credit cards, ACH direct-debits, and the ability to give smaller amounts on a recurring schedule, rather than a larger one-time donation.

All of these options pay-off for fundraisers. According to charitable or non-profit businesses utilizing electronic payments have a 98 percent fulfillment rate—50 percent higher than businesses using mail-based processes. Accepting payments online for a fundraiser will decrease processing costs, reduce volunteer manual labor, provide more flexible payment options to customers, improve overall efficiency, and decrease headaches for all involved—making fundraising once again a fun and enjoyable experience.

Read on to learn about one Boy Scouts Troop that simplified and automated the entire order process for its annual fundraiser by adding online fundraising functionality.

The Boy Scouts of America are well known for their good deeds and outdoor activities. To support these activities and charitable events, Boy Scout Troops hold fundraisers. Troop 970's most important fundraiser is its annual Mulch Sale, which promotes teamwork, instills personal commitment, and helps Scouts pay for High Adventure camping trips throughout the United States.

As Troop 970's Mulch Sale grew in size in recent years, so did the fundraising challenges it faced, including cumbersome order tracking, inability to automatically capture customer information, untimely deposits of revenue, and limited payment options.

To simplify the process, and to provide more flexible purchase options, the Troop adopted an online fundraising system with a securely hosted custom-branded online payment form, enabling it to take orders and accept payments from customers online. Customers could pay via credit card or ACH direct-debit from a checking account, and the system processed the transaction and automatically deposited the collected funds into Troop 970's bank account.

With custom field capability, the system accepted additional detailed information the Troop required. In this case, customers were able to provide the exact location where they wanted the mulch stacked. Using a secure password, BSA volunteers could access order information, and once the system showed the payment had cleared, the volunteers could deliver the mulch, as requested.

With sales approaching 20,000 bags, Troop 970's 2007 Mulch Sale was a resounding success. Online fundraising enabled the Troop to manage both the financial and logistical aspects of the sale more effectively and efficiently, and it created a customer database that the Troop plans to use for future fundraiser marketing.

Known as the powerhouse of the cell mitochondria are responsible for providing energy to any living cell. The presence of mitochondria in a cell is usually seen as a sign of evolution and both plants and animals have mitochondria as a part of their cells. In fact the reason why viruses are considered half living and half dead is because they lack basic cellular structures like mitochondria. Mitochondrial diseases usually occur due to impaired mitochondrial functioning resulting from defective DNA present in the mitochondria. However before we discuss diseases it is important to know how mitochondria actually multiply and inherit DNA.

Just like every cell in the body has DNA similarly mitochondria too has DNA. The first thing to remember is that mitochondria have lesser DNA information stored in them and all the DNA present in mitochondria is inherited from the mother. When mitochondria divide the DNA present in the original mitochondria is distributed randomly into the new mitochondria, this means that a genetic defect can actually be amplified through random divisions and over a period of time the number of mitochondria with defective DNA can increase. Mitochondrial diseases usually occur when the number of mitochondria with defective DNA in the body or a particular organ is high; this is known as "threshold expression".

The good news is that mitochondria do not carry out all cellular functions of the body and it is possible for a cell to survive even with defective mitochondrial DNA, however when the number of defective mitochondria is large the organ that has defective mitochondria is impaired. In fact this is why expression of mitochondrial diseases is different in different people; the defect maybe the same but the part of the body that is affected can be different. The above stated fact makes diagnosis of mitochondrial diseases very difficult. More often than not it takes more than just one test or diagnosis to confirm mitochondrial diseases.

Mitochondrial diseases are usually expressed in a variety of ways like seizures, muscle wasting, low blood sugar etc. People suffering from mitochondrial diseases usually exhibit more than one symptom and hence the diagnosis of such a person is difficult. Since the mitochondria are responsible for providing energy to a cell, if the defective mitochondria are present in the nerves or muscles the effects are more severe. Patients with mitochondrial conditions that affect the nerves or muscles usually have poor co-ordination and exhibit poor muscular control and muscle wasting.

Since the symptoms of mitochondrial diseases are very diverse it is not easy to classify all patients into a single group, however there are a few symptoms that are usually associated with mitochondrial diseases. A patient suffering from mitochondrial disease can exhibit dementia, hypoglycaemia, muscle wasting, seizures, diabetes and other generic symptoms. In fact it requires considerable expertise to diagnose a patient with mitochondrial disease, since there is no single test or genetic marker that can pin point to mitochondrial disease the diagnosis of mitochondrial disease is usually a combination of tests and symptoms that a patient exhibits.

Diagnosis of Mitochondrial diseases

Unlike cancer and other diseases, there is no known marker test or set pattern that can help in diagnosing mitochondrial diseases. Diagnosis of mitochondrial diseases is purely based on the symptoms that a patient exhibits. Since mitochondrial diseases actually have different symptoms depending on the body organ that is affected sometime diagnosis of mitochondrial diseases can take weeks or months. Another problem with effective diagnosis of mitochondrial disease is that usually patients show improvement for a limited period of time when the symptoms are treated. Usually it takes more than one symptom of mitochondrial disease to develop to help in pin pointing the symptoms to mitochondrial diseases. In most cases blood tests and genetic tests usually help in effective diagnosis of mitochondrial diseases.

Let's face it, when you want to sell your old car it can become a pain in the neck quickly. You make appointments and change your plans and no one shows up. You can eliminate the stress and problems with trying to sell your old car simply by finding a car donation program.

Finding a car donation program should be fairly easy as there are many charities that set up this kind of donation. Many charities will come to your home and remove your old car with no out of pocket expense to you. There are very little restrictions when you look for a car donation program to utilize your old car for the good of others. Most charities that run a car donation program only require that you have four inflated tires.

When you give your car to a charity you will feel good about contributing to other people. Many times we take for granted all the good things we have in our lives and being reminded that everyone isnt quite as lucky as you are can be a good thing. Many charities will sell the used car at auction and use the proceeds for whatever programs they run.

You can find so many different charities that target different groups to help. You can choose a charity that has meaning in some way for you. If you have lost someone to the ravaging disease of cancer you can donate your used car to a cancer research car donation program. Within the cancer research community you will find many specific car donation programs too.

If your interest lies with wildlife, you can find a car donation program that caters to reintroducing animals back into the wild. Your car can fund a rehabilitation program for abandoned or abused animals. Think how good that can make you feel.

Another benefit of searching for a car donation program is that you can usually use your generous gift to others as a tax write off when tax time rolls around. Check with a professional who knows the laws concerning donating a car in your state.

Buying a new car is a great experience especially after months of review and searching for just the right vehicle to meet your needs. But in your excitement and in the luxury of smelling that new car smell, don't forget about your old car.

While many consumers trade in their cars or sell them to other buyers, is there something more significant that you can do with your old car? Absolutely!

When you donate your old car to charity you can not only benefit yourself but also a worthy cause. Let's look at the positives of donating a car to a charitable organization:

1. Tax Write-off. When you donate a car to a charity, you receive a deductible tax benefit equal to the price that your vehicle was sold for.

2. Tax Deduction. If the charity of your choice decides to use your vehicle in a way that is defined by the Tax Code instead of selling it – your tax deduction is based upon the current fair market value or (i.e. Kelly Blue Book value) of your donated car.

3. Knowledge of a Good Thing Done. Giving to a charity is one of the best rewards in and of itself. You are helping someone else in a way that is significant and car donations go a long way in making certain that charities fulfill its mission and its vision while not going over their budget.

4. Increase Storage, Decrease Clutter. An old car that you are not using just takes up space in your garage, driveway or yard that you could use for other things such as storage.

5. Save on Unnecessary Maintenance and Expense. Owning a car, even if you don't drive it, will cost you money as you will still have to potentially pay property taxes, renew your vehicle registrations and keep your vehicle inspections current as well as keep up the maintenance on the car to ensure its optimal performance and drivability. These are rather high demands for something that you do not even plan to use

Donating your used car to charity would be the best option for you. Think of what you will save as well as what you will be given in return for your donation. You won't have to maintain the car, give up storage space for a vehicle that stays parked most of the time. Additionally, giving helps make the world a better place. There simply isn't any better deal that that!

Turn Your Car Donations Into Cash

Posted by Prue Morland | 12:47 AM | 0 comments »

If you're looking to donate to charity, look no further than doing so by donating your old car. We all know that secretly, looking for a little compensation would be a fair trade for the sentimental value the things being given away has earned. For this reason, many people are looking for car donation programs where a cash equivalent is given back to them.

Car donations are the way many people choose to recycle their older model cars without having the headache of repairing, advertising, showing, and hopefully then selling them. Your donated car will not only get that old car off your driveway, or out of your garage. There are easy-to-use car donation websites where you can research hundreds of respected organizations, find answers to FAQs and complete simple online charity car donation forms. But turning cash by donating your car? Read on.

You might wonder – the terms "donation" and "cash" do not really match. One is an act done gratuitously. The latter is for barter.

The closest thing to a car donation with cash equivalent that we could get is the tax deduction that the IRS would give us in exchange for donating our cars. A generous compensation package is given to the right donors in the form of a tax write off, an amount depending on how the charity uses the car. If the charity decides to keep the car, you receive an amount equal to its fair market value. If they sell the car, you receive a tax deduction equal to the price it was sold for.

These compensation options are just as good as cash, and this is the closest thing to compensation as you can get. Remember, the tax deduction is a bonus and the real reason for donating should be to give from the kindness of your heart.

Whether the cash you get from in the "car donation with cash back" equation does not mean that you will somehow walk away from you donation with a fistful of dollars. If the charity to which you donate you car chooses to put it to work in the service of their efforts, you will be allowed to deduct its fair market value, as determined by Kelly's Blue Book. If the car you donate is sold to raise money for the charity, you will be allowed to deduct the amount for which it was sold, unless that amount is less than Blue Book value. And, with the tax deduction you'll receive in return, you'll actually be performing a car donation with cash back.

Though seeking a program that offers a car donation with cash equivalent would be a trademark of human nature, it is responding to the plight of others that should be our calling in life. Just visit our website for more information on Car Donation For Cash and related information.

If you're in the market for a new car, you have some options about what to do with your old one. If someone in the family can use it, you can pass it along. If it's reasonably new, and in good shape, you can use it as a trade-in on your new vehicle. Or, you can try to sell it yourself and go through the hassle waiting for strangers who may or may not show up when they said they would, and then try to talk you into a selling price far lower than you can accept.

If your old car, however, is not worth much as a trade-in, and there's no family member who wants to take it on in its unwarrantied state, you can still get a reasonable return on it by, of all things, giving it away. How?

How A Charitable Car Donation Will Benefit You

You can use your car for a charitable car donation. There are thousands of charities nationwide which will gladly take an old car off your hands, and wither use it in performing their good deeds, or sell it and use the proceeds to fund their good deeds. Other than relieving you of having to pay to keep the car registered and insured while it sits idle in your driveway, how exactly does turning it into a charitable car donation benefit your finances?

You will be able to take a tax deduction either in the amount of the fair market value, as determined by the Kelly's Blue Book, if the group to which you make your charitable car donation uses it in performing their tasks. If, however, they sell it and use the proceeds, you can claim full sales price of your charitable car donation as a deduction. If it sells for less than its Blue Book value, you can claim that.

Aside from your potential tax write-off, your charitable car donation will help the charity you have chosen to aid people less fortunate, so you can enjoy knowing that it is making a big difference in somebody's life. You, in the meantime, will not have to worry about maintaining the car so it does not become an eyesore, or using some possibly precious garage space to store it.

Other Reasons For Making A Charitable Car Donation

Many people choose to make a charitable car donation as part of their wills, and many people who have inherited a car as part of a loved one's estate will choose to make a charitable car donation rather than be faced with memories each time they drive a car. There are lots of reasons, other than your simple need to relieve yourself of an old car, why you might choose to make a charitable car donation.

Regardless of your reason for doing so, your charitable car donation will put a good vehicle to work for someone who really needs it, and reward you with a lower tax bill or higher tax refund. Everybody, in other words, wins!

You've got an old car which just doesn't get driven much any more. You hate the idea of putting an ad in the classifieds and having who know who cruising your street to get a look at it, but you don't particularly relish the idea of having to deal with a used car salesman either. But there is a third alternative, which will give you a chance to put your old vehicle to good us, and give you a nice tax break as well. What is it?

Well, if you've ever given your used clothing, or household appliances, or outgrown toys to the Good Will or Salvation Army, or even the church rummage sale, you have charitable spirit and are to be commended for it. But did you know that there are literally hundreds of charities, all over the US which will eagerly accept your car donation? And, with the tax deduction you'll receive in return, you'll actually be performing a car donation with cash back.

Where Your Cash Back Will Come From

The cash in the "car donation with cash back" equation does not mean that you will somehow walk away from you donation with a fistful of dollars. What it does mean is that, when tax filing time rolls around, you'll be able to claim the greater of the full book value of your donated car, or its full sales price should the charity decide to auction it off, as a charitable deduction on your tax return. That by itself might be enough either to lower your tax payment or to increase your tax refund. Car donation with cash back indeed!

Car Donation With Cash Back: The IRS' Rules

While that may sound a bit cynical, the truth is that many people become attached to their long-time possessions, and receiving any sort of monetary bonus can make the ides of letting them go just a bit more palatable. Even the IRS, of all institutions, recognizes that people need incentives to be charitable, and charities need a way to provide those incentives.

The IRS, in fact, has gone out of its way to encourage you to make a car donation with cash back in this fashion.

Then you go with the FMV.

Either way, you are making a car donation with cash back in return; you don't have to do a thing but fill out the paperwork; and the charity will even send someone to collect your old friend and see it safely to its new home!

And they are only three of the hundreds of Tennessee charities struggling to raise funds for their causes. If you're a resident of Old Hickory's beloved TN with an old car which you no longer need, you can support the home do-gooders by making a car donation in TN to help them fund their work.

Three Tennessee Charities

You car donation in TN can be used to benefit the Tennessee Council of the Blind, Develop Africa, or the Arthritis Trust of America. The Tennessee Council of the Blind has as sits mission the improved lives of the visually disabled, helping them achieve better economic, employment, and educational opportunities.

Develop Africa is dedicated to the idea that the impoverished countries of Africa will only catch up with the rest of the world with the development empowerment of their greatest resources, their people. Transformational education is one of the keys to their approach.

The Arthritis Trust of America is a donation-funded foundation whose sole purpose is to find a cure for rheumatoid arthritis. The Donate to Charity Strategy -

There comes a time when companies have a need to better the world through donating to charities. A company can use a charity to better their name and increase their name awareness while bettering the world.

Take for example Bill and Melinda Gates. Their charity, The Gates Foundation, helps the innovation of health and education to the global community, more specifically in the area of aids. Not only do Bill and Melinda Gates help the world and increase the good feelings they have in their hearts by doing so, Bill gets his company recognized for having a kind and giving charity like, The Gates Foundation.

With Bill Gates being the majority owner of Microsoft, he gets his company recognized for bettering the world through his health and education charity. With Bill Gates having his own charity he is both bettering the world and bettering the Microsoft name. It is a great way to advertise.

Let's use The Gates Foundation again. This time a person does not have to "own" the charity to recognize themselves and their company. Warren Buffet has decided to give his Berkshire Hathaway fortune to philanthropic causes, The Bill Gates Foundation is one of the philanthropic causes. Warrant Buffet will be giving billions to the foundation. This will help Warren Buffet with news press release, company name recognition and helping a charitable cause.

Another example of a company using charitable giving to better the world is American Idol. This year, American Idol started a cause called Idol Gives Back. Idol Gives back gives to multiple charities such as Save the Children, America's Second Harvest, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and the Children's Health Fund. This got more people to watch American Idol and give to charities.

Companies like Ford, Coca Cola and AT&T donated large amounts of moneys to these charities through Idol gives back. What did they get for this? Their names were plastered on the Idol webpage, names talked about in news talked about in news articles and blogs, and most importantly talked about on the show, American Idol. Not only did they give large amounts to charities, these companies made some sales for giving to charities as well.

You may be asking yourself, I own my own company but I do not make 1% of what Bill Gates, Fox Entertainment, Ford, Coca Cola, AT&T and Warrant Buffet do. I can't possibly give to charities and get name recognition like they do. The answer is, yes you can.

Take for example of , the donate 2.0 of the internet. It is a new website that promotes charitable giving for businesses and people. Their idea of cause related marketing helps over 100 charities while giving companies search engine traffic and placement on the world largest internet donation list. Companies now can give to charities they want and give recognized for doing so.

There are many other ways companies can give to charities. They can contact charities they give dearly to and advertise that an amount of each sale will go that charity. Companies and McDonalds and Wendy's do this type of cause related marketing all of the time. Why, because it works?

Remember that you can use the strategy of cause related marketing on your side. You do not need to be a Warren Buffet, Bill Gates or a Coca Cola. You just need a heart to give and get ready to donate to charity strategy a try.

David Olmstead writes about Charity Donations. His main focus is how donating to a charity organization can be a useful tool to advertise. He runs the website on Charity donation where people and businesses get recognized by donating to 100+ charities. Businesses get recognized with search engine traffic and being on the World's Largest Donor list. People get recognized at the donating social networking site.

Help United Way Help 50,000 Families

"Providing 50,000 Families and Individuals Micro Lending Tools to Improve Their Quality of Life"

You can help 50,000 families become self-sufficient and financially stable with help from United Way simply by voting for the micro lending project, one of the Top 50 project ideas in the "The Members Project" from American Express. American Express, one of United Way's National Corporate Leadership partners, will donate $1 for each card member that registers with a minimum of $1 million and a maximum of $5 million for the winning idea.

Vote now to help United Way help families:

http://www.membersproject.com/Community_Development/103

United Way International's global affiliates and members have more than 120 years of experience working in 45 countries providing assistance to communities at the local level.

We believe that all families and individuals, no matter where on earth, should be given the tools and opportunities to create stability for themselves. To this end, we believe that micro-credit programs and micro-lending are proven and innovative interventions to help support families and individuals to improve their quality of life.

A micro loan as small as $57 allows a family to buy a cow, and have milk to drink and sell. The loan is paid back, 97% of the time, and the profits are used to pay school fees. A second loan pays for improvements to the shop on the side of the family's small, primitive living quarters. Again, sales improve, the loan is paid back, the family's standard of living improves. This virtuous cycle has proven itself around the world.

Please encourage friends, associates, and family to vote, too. Just make sure you vote before July 15 to keep United Way in the running!

Thanks for your support.

Why You Should Donate Your Car To Melwood

Posted by Prue Morland | 8:47 AM | 0 comments »

Paying It Forward was a concept presented in a similar-named movie in which the actor, Haley Joel Osment, is a young boy who thought of a project for school that would require people to do a random act of kindness for someone else that this person could not do for themselves to help them at a desperate time without expecting anything in return.

We all are presented with an opportunity where we too can do a seemingly random kind act to help an organization dedicated to ensuring that people with developmental disabilities have every possible opportunity for advancement and success. Developmental disabilities come in many forms, and each of them are quite incapacitating. Any person suffering from a developmental disability is at a distinct disadvantage.

But Melwood believes that this shouldn't be the case and Melwood believes that these people with direction can be contributing members of our society in a positive way. The mental and physical impairments associated with the limits of disease, though they can rarely be cured, are able to be dealt with in such a way so that people with disabilities realize they are stronger than the disease and are able to live life to the fullest.

To fund its programs, Melwood has created the Melwood car donation program in which all profit – EVERY LAST CENT – that is gained from the sale of a donated car goes to help provide for the financial costs of Melwood's many programs. These projects may be for educational projects, livelihood support, research and development, recreational activities all geared towards giving the patient a clearer perspective on how his life can be lived and how strong he really is compared to the disease he has to endure.

Conducting a Melwood car donation is easy and convenient. You could call them at 1-877-MELWOOD for a guided, step-by-step process to facilitate your donation. Or you could even complete the bulk of the paperwork comfortably at home using their online form at

A Melwood car donation is never burdensome. Once your used car is ready for pick up, Melwood will even send in a towing or transport service to pick up the car.

Every car donated to Melwood is entitled to receiving the benefits of a tax deduction which is equal to the selling price of the car. But the tax deduction is just icing on the cake. The real joy of donating a car to Melwood comes from knowing that you have done a great thing to help someone who is unable to help themselves.

This is the primary benefit of charity, and your car donation is one way of paying the benefits and goodness of charity forward to help someone else. Just visit our website for more information on Melwood Car Donation and related information.

Female Infertility Does Have Treatments

Posted by Prue Morland | 4:47 PM | 0 comments »

Female infertility can be a very frustrating time for a woman. However, there is hope and ways to deal with infertility. Hopefully this article will help you find better ways to cope with infertility and find help for you.

It was thought years ago that if a couple were unable to conceive that it was the woman's fault. This is not the case. It has been found that the causes of infertility are about equal in men and women. Obviously different reasons for infertility due to different functions of the reproductive systems but both systems do malfunction and have problems. For female infertility, several different approaches can be used.

After being tested to check and see what the problems are there are a couple different things you can consider. If your egg production is down or simply not there you can use an egg donor. The eggs can be fertilized by your partner's sperm or a sperm donor and placed into your uterus called uterine insemination.

Sometimes it may be a hormone imbalance, which can sometimes be treated easily. You will want to try to least expensive things first of course. They normally are checking for estradiol (E2) and follicle stimulating homone (FSH). Some offices start by doing a sonohystogram first, which is a special ultrasound. However, talk to your doctor about all of the options available in order to choose the one that is best for you.

Unknown Infertility

If you have had all the prior tests done and it is still unknown, why you are unable to conceive then your doctor may recommend a minor surgery done to help find the cause of your female infertility. This might uncover underlying conditions that may not otherwise be seen.

Support System

Having a good support system is vital to a positive and healthy mental state when dealing with any problems. You and your partner need to keep a good line of communication going at all times. Also keep lines of communication open at all times with your doctors. Ask questions and get answers. You may be recommended for counseling. Use that tool to help you through. Infertility is not an easy issue to deal with and you need a good support system to pull you through. One of the normal emotions to have is anger. Address this anger and voice it to your counselor and partner but do not dwell on it. You are not at fault because there may be medical conditions that you were not aware of. Getting the help you need to have a baby is the best thing for you to do. Sometimes in life, we just need to ask for help.

Nothing lasts forever, including your relationship with your favorite set of wheels. Your trusty vehicle may no longer be up to the rigors of constant use, and is ready for semi-retirement. Or your family may have grown, and that ten-year-old two door Honda Civic is simply not expandable. But you don't think its expendable, either, and you'd like to send it somewhere that it will be appreciated.

But where exactly would that be? You have a pretty good idea that any car dealer will offer you next to nothing for a trade, and you don't really want to try selling it yourself and having strangers knocking on the door at all hours of the day or night. Besides, a ten-year-old Honda two door, no matter how well you have maintained it, has long since had its warranties expire. You, or whoever its new owner will be, may be facing serious repair bills before very long. The market for your old car, to be blunt, is limited.

So why not look into car donation? Even if you aren't someone who thinks very much about the needs charitable organizations, taking advantage of a car donation program will not only solve your problem of Honda disposal, it will provide you with a very nice financial benefit. How?

How A Car Donation Will Benefit You

A car donation to a charity will entitle you to a tax write-off on your next return. Depending on your tax bracket, that deduction could either significantly lower what you'll owe to Uncle Sam, or significantly raise what Uncle Sam owes you in a refund. Are you listening?

If you make a car donation to a charity which decides that your old Honda is exactly what they need to scoot around and perform their charitable tasks, you can take a tax deduction for the Honda's fair market value as determined by Kelly's Blue Book.

If you make a car donation to a charity which finds a collector of ten-year-old two door Hondas and makes surprisingly attractive offer on yours, both the charity and you will be happily recompensed, because you'll be able to deduct the full amount of what the rather odd collector paid.

Your car donation, in other words, will not only have sated the appetite of the collector, it will have given the charity some much needed financial help, and either lowered your future tax burden or increased your future tax refund. Can you say win-win-win situation?

Just run an online search, and you'll find plenty of websites which can get you on your way to making your charitable car donation!

Early last year, David Olmstead, had the idea of getting websites the chance to donate to charities and get recognized for doing so. This was even before the recent fame charity cause of Idol Gives Back. His website, is an online social network and search engine with the idea of giving to charities of peoples choices.

Olmstead wanted to stay away from the pay-per-click ideas of search engines such as Google and Yahoo. He wanted to give the smaller companies a chance to compete in the search engine market. "With the online search engines charging a lot of money per keyword, I wanted to make it a monthly free instead of pay per click. This will benefit smaller companies while also helping charities of their choice for the money amount they choose"

Olmstead does not only help companies with advertising, he helps people who want to better the world connect. "People can feel safe in this online social network because they are better charities while connecting with other people that do the same."

People and companies have their choice of over 100 charities to choose from. Olmstead will not state his favorite charities because he believe that it is persons right to choose where their money goes.

With the recent launch of K the new and first Donate 2.0 of the internet, Olmstead is giving the first companies and people who donate a recognition deserved by donating to charities. These companies and business will get placed on, what he hopes to be, the World's Largest Donation List for donors and businesses. "Business will get recognized for their donations to charities similar to that of the million dollar homepage. The only different is that these companies will get search engine traffic and people have a reason to keep on coming back to Kajoobles.com"

Olmstead is hoping that his idea of the Web Gives Back is greater than what American Idol did with Idol Gives back. "The world should have the choice of giving to their charity of choice, instead of a selected few charities."

How To Choose Private Cord Blood Banks?

Posted by Prue Morland | 4:47 PM | 0 comments »

You have decided to go for cord blood donation. That's great! But, have you decided which bank to save your sample at? There are a large number of banks across the nation that saves cord blood. If you are baffled and can't decide which one to choose, then read this…

Things To Consider While Selecting A Bank

There are three major factors to check out for before picking a bank for cord blood banking or cord blood registry.

Price

Private cord blood banks are NOT free. They charge somewhere around $2,000 for collection and the cord blood registry. Then, there is a $100 annual fee for storage of the sample. However, there are some banks that provide highly reduced rates, sometimes free storage, in cases where a child needs an immediate transplant. Contact various banks and know their prices. Each one has a price difference. Choose one that fits your budget. But, do not change your mind regarding saving your cord blood just because of the price factor. Life is more precious than dollars!

Location

Private banks are sprawled in every nook and corner of the country. Therefore, you should have no difficulty in finding one near your locality. Moreover, several hospitals are associated with private banks, especially the delivery centers. So, you can consult your doctor or midwife regarding this matter. Once you select a bank, it's a good idea to have a discussion with its staff. They are competent professionals who can answer your questions and provide you with further information in this field.

Reputation

You have chosen your bank, but is it reputable? Your question can be answered by AABB (American Association of Blood Banks). This association keeps an eye on blood banks throughout the country, offering the certificate of accreditation to them just like that offered to universities. So, before you give your final nod, check out with the AABB about the accreditation of your bank and whether they are any complaints lodged against it by other donors or recipients. After all, you don't want to give your precious baby's cord blood to just any bank down the corner, do you?

The most important thing to remember while choosing a private cord blood bank is to keep an open mind. Talk to your doctor about it; take an appointment with the bank's trained staff. If there are people around you who have donated cord blood, then speak to them about it. You might dig out certain facts from their experience.

In short, do not jump into decisions blindly or in haste. Relax, research on the internet, and remember to consult people around you. Remember, you are about to take one of the major decisions of your life.

Cord blood banking should be a considered decision. If you can afford, you can look for a private cord blood banks, and if you want to cut costs, you can look for a public cord blood registry
