Life insurance can be a simple and flexible approach to make a significant contribution to your favorite charity

A Life insurance policy is an excellent tool for charitable giving. Not only does it allow you to make a substantial donation to charity at no cost to you, but you may also benefit from tax rules that apply to gifts of life insurance.

With the guidance and support of your favorite charity and the approval of your legal and/or tax advisors, along with the support of your family, you can create something very exclusive that is reserved for a select group of eligible individuals.

It can be a life insurance policy that has provided its original purpose, some examples are: a spouse who has past away and no longer needs it, a grown child who is financially independent or to protect a business that no longer exists. It can also be a new policy purchased specifically to benefit your favorite charity; a gift of life insurance can enable you to leave a much greater gift to your favorite charity than may have been possible during your lifetime.

There are at least four different ways in which you can structure a gift of life insurance to your favorite charity:

1. You can make your favorite charity a beneficiary of an existing life insurance policy. Upon your passing, the full face value amount of the policy will go to your favorite charity. Although the proceeds from the policy will be included in your gross estate, the full amount received by your favorite charity may be deductible as a charitable deduction. To make your favorite charity a beneficiary of an existing life insurance policy, you can simply request a beneficiary designation form from your employer or insurance company. Most forms require the following information:

• Your favorite charity full legal name:

• Your favorite charity permanent mailing address:

• Your favorite charity federal tax identification number:

• Your relationship to the beneficiary: Charity

2. You can make your favorite charity the owner and beneficiary of an existing paid-up life insurance policy. By doing so, you may be able to deduct an amount equal to the fair market value of the policy, or your cost basis, whichever is less. Since your favorite charity becomes the owner of the policy, the proceeds will not be included in your estate for tax purposes.

3. You can make your favorite charity the owner and beneficiary of a policy on which you are still paying premiums. You may be able to deduct an amount equal to the approximate cash value of the policy or the policy's cost basis, whichever is less, in the year in which you give the gift. You may also be able to deduct any future premium payments, and the proceeds will not be included in your estate for tax purposes.

4. You can purchase a new policy and make your favorite charity the owner and beneficiary. Because your favorite charity is the owner, you may be able to deduct premium payments as charitable contributions for as long as the premiums are paid, Subject to state limitations. In addition, the proceeds will not be included in your estate for tax purposes.

Life insurance is a flexible charitable giving tool that can be utilized to suit your individual financial needs while also substantially supporting your favorite charity's programs.

If you are thinking about a donation of life insurance to a charity, I encourage you to consult with your legal advisor and/ or tax advisor to help you decide on the best approach for you. It is important to note that some states don't consider a charity to have insurable interest in its donors lives.

Easier Than a Care Package

Posted by Prue Morland | 1:43 AM | 0 comments »

While military-life is a choice for many, it is still a stressful life. Presently there are more than 350,000 active-deployed service members around the world in the five branches (Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy and Coast Guard) of the U.S. military. It is important for U.S. citizens to recognize these individuals' sacrifice through support whether as an act of duty, an expression of patriotism or other individual reason.

Care packages are a great way to support these service members if individuals have the time and the money to do so; but care packages do not last all year long and may be too expensive for individuals on a budget. The minimum amount of money to send a care package is generally $25.With these things in mind, the magazine-donation program Subscriptions for Soldiers was created. The purpose of the program is to provide individuals with the opportunity to send service members an inexpensive morale-boosting gift that lasts all year.

For just $10 per subscription, the donation program is affordable and easy. Donors visit and donate magazine subscriptions to a service member they know or are paired anonymously with a service member through the database of requests.

The program has already gathered thousands of requests from active-deployed service members through a separate website. Service members request up to three favorite magazines from 30 magazine titles like Guns & Ammo magazine, muscle & Fitness magazine, Shape magazine and Star magazine at no cost to them.

For active duty service members, something as simple as receiving a monthly magazine makes a difference by boosting morale in stressful times throughout the year. Magazines are an easy way for service members to stay up-to-date and connected with news, information and trends happening at home. As reported in a press release, many service members have already responded enthusiastically to the program describing magazines as a sought-after luxury.

It is important for active-deployed service members to have a consistent connection with life back in the States and there is no better way to them to receive that connection than from a citizen extending support.

Let Our Soldiers Stay In Contact with US.

Posted by Prue Morland | 1:43 AM | 0 comments »

In the light of our proud soldiers that are stationed throughout the world to protect our freedoms, a strategy has been put in place for them to text message home. Our soldiers find themselves having a lack of communications with friends and family here in the United States. They have a right to be able to share with their loved ones, what they choose to share on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. As a matter of fact speaking from personal experience it is darn right impossible to stay in contact with everyone monthly let alone weekly.

As of right now our Troops have 3 typical ways of communication with us: phone calls, bulk e-mails, and letters. Typically, the soldiers are looking to call their family members but not their friends. Friends usually get the emails and the letters. However, this is not a daily occurrence you might get a phone call once every 3 -5 days, or an email or letter once a month. Following the war and our efforts to help our troops it has been noticed that there has been an evolving effort to donate computers to soldier sites and bases.

The idea for soldiers to be able to text message our cell phones from any computer in the world that has internet access, is a proactive form of communication. The program is simple and quick for our troops to use. It allows troops to upload cell phone numbers to a secure database and then take those cell phone numbers and break them down into groups (i.e friends 1, family, and friends 2...). Once they are broken down into groups they are free to send out as many messages as they want. They may chose to send messages to a whole group, their whole phone list, or individual numbers. The convenience of this service is unbelievable because now it will actually feel like that soldier is involved of our daily lives. We could be driving down the street and receive a text message. As a matter of fact we could receive a text message in the morning, afternoon, and night.

This service was built to cater to the troops, families, and friends. Someone can sign any person in the Armed Forces up for this program, all you have to do is give them their user name and password and their service will be up and running. Though the service is not free we will be donating $1.99 to 3 different Non-For-Profit organizations a month. Most likely one (1) of our donations will go to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the other two will be for supporting our active troops.

To learn more about the service please visit our website at Please feel free to call us about this service we would love to answer your questions.

We sell wind chimes on our site, but wind chimes as a topic for a twice-a-week blogging seems like overkill, even to us. I am an enthusiast, but how much is there to say about wind chimes? Or who wants to read it?

Every once in a while we post an article on wind chimes, our last one was about indoor wind chimes and collectibility. (You can use the search bar to see if we've posted on something you'd like to read about.) We plan to have wind chime articles every 1-2 months. The rest of the time, it's free software.

Enter Free Software...

Free software is usually Open Source Software, Donationware or Freeware that you either download from the internet or use on the web.

I try to recommend programs that are good and bug-free, that fill a need, are recently released (though we can't forget the free software classics) and give you links to reputable sites to download from. I have a lot of free software on my system, and a lot of programs that are in beta versions (meaning they're almost ready to be released but not yet). It's gratifying to report a bug and help out the developers.

...and the Internet

Becoming very popular are applications on the web. I watch for these and like to report on them because Windows, Mac OS X and Linux users can all benefit from these programs. Many of these applications have monthly fees, but most offer a small free account or a 30-day "try before you buy" plan that lets you get familiar with the app and see if it's for you.

What is Talked About

Usually the program is discussed in terms of what it accomplishes and special features it encompasses. Certain features are most desirable, such as a download of your bank statement into an accounting program, and I make sure tools like that are included. I comment on the installation, the interface and include screen shots when appropriate. I discuss if any problems occurred in the setup or testing, and present the programs in an upbeat, positive manner.

I want you to try it because it might make your life easier or save you some money. For example, Microsoft Office vs. Open O - you save well over $100 right there! Most often discussed are utilities, productivity, and fun small programs. But make no mistake, we're open to all kinds of software here!

The "Bad Rap" Free Software Gets

Supposedly adware and spyware are distributed with free software programs. It is theorized that the makers of the free software include it to offset the cost of distributing it for free.

Chances are you have software to combat adware and spyware and won't be affected if this is true. I go by the look of a site, if they've been around a long time and if they advertise "no adware! no spyware!". There are many responsible, honorable businesses circulating free software and they know passing along problems is no way to get a visitor back.

Impact Nations - On a Humanitarian Mission

Posted by Prue Morland | 1:43 AM | 0 comments »

In a bid to do this, Impact Nations sets off on a mission to reach out to the poor, widow, orphan and the destitute with humane virtues like love, compassion and a message of hope. The noble hearts associated with the mission in the Impact Nations team takes a journey to help the desperate people in developing countries like Philippines, Zambia and India for varied problems like unclean drinking water, unavailability of proper medical facility, social dejection for widows, etc.

While the short-term trips conducted by Impact Nations are called "Journeys of Compassion", long-term mission is called "Projects". The year 2007 ended on a successful note with the 'Journeys of Compassion' conducting medical aid camps in India, Mexico and the Philippines. Thrilled with the response, the Impact Nations team has scheduled many such short-term trips to India, Philippines, Guatemala, Zambia and Peru in the year 2008.

The 'Projects' undertaken by Impact Nations include providing clean water to villages through household water filters in Philippines and India, empowering widows in India through sewing micro-enterprise, and availing medical care to the underprivileged in Zambia. Besides successfully steering the project for 'Clean Drinking Water' in aid of the people of the Typhoon Fengshen hit, Mindanao Island in the Philippines, Impact Nations has made plans to establish schools and ongoing medical aid facilities in a number of communities in India.

Impact Nations however, emphasizes on the need to make people aware of the conditions of fellow humans in distress and join the movement in saving them from pain, agony and death. More than a movement, it is a mission of Hope, compassion and power to 'unite' - to work together for lasting change. One such venture with the aid of several generous hearts has opened up doors of opportunity and given social empowerment to 80 widows in a small village in Andhra Pradesh, India who successfully completed training in sewing and were offered a sewing machine each.

Impact Nations makes a dedicated endeavor to address newer tribulations in third world nations. Just as it was providing medical aid in Zambia, Impact Nations felt there is ardent need to address the water issues through filters and hand-drilled wells. Moreover, it has also chalked out plans to carry out elaborate measures to address Zambia's medical issues (especially malaria and AIDS treatment, to prevent the transfer of the HIV virus to infants at childbirth), and agricultural issues as well.

Impact Nations is touched with the positive response people all over the globe have offered for their 'less' fortunate keens in 'that part of the world' and hope to accomplish many more mission of '

Hope, Compassion and Dignity'.

What’s the need for Child support systems?

Posted by Prue Morland | 1:43 PM | 0 comments »

What does a child need-----a good home, proper food, good education and other facilities which will lead to all round development? But how many children, especially in a developing country get such facilities. The percentages of such fortunate ones are very less especially in a developing country like India.

Children are the future of any nation. And every state administration must try to develop certain programs for child support system. The children coming from not so sound economic background needs to be supported. They are the ones who are in need of child support mechanism that every civilized society needs to develop so that all round welfare of the society keeps on happening.

Every other day some or other Indian news channel exposes and sometimes the foreign media also highlights the truth about the real condition of the poor children who have to start working for living. If you just pay careful attention at some traffic light stops in Delhi you can see small kids trying to sell flowers, pens, magazines, books, handkerchiefs and other small things. Sometimes we think that lets help them and buy something from them and as the things would come cheap so we will also be striking a good deal. But one needs to really ask, are we really helping them in some substantial way? If one wants to help such poor children then one needs to join in the charitable institutions that are to develop child support systems which aim to give free education to these deprived kids laboring for sustenance.

Education is the key that will unlock many prospective doors for the future. Every child should have access to education whether he or she has the ability to give the fees for the school. Such systems and child development programs need to be developed which will enable even the children of the poor to decide a future for them selves instead of just being driven by the circumstances.

Guru Nanak Garib Niwaj Education Society is a charitable institution set up by the Baba Amar Singhji to work towards providing free education to the children of the poor. He has set up a school in Delhi where the street children who otherwise would have been working or begging for sustenance are provided free education, books, clothes, transportation facility and vocational training, so that they too can lead a dignified life.

If you too want bring in happiness in the life of some unfortunate kids, then instead of buying things from the kids peddling stuffs make some donation to organizations like Guru Nanak Garib Niwaj Education Society, which are working for developing child support programs.

How to Search for a Charitable Foundation

Posted by Prue Morland | 1:43 AM | 0 comments »

When you are an organization or individual in need of a charitable donation, how do you go about finding what you need? After all, there are so many different companies and foundations out there that issue grants to people, depending upon their goals, that is can tough to know where to submit a proposal. Here are some tips to make the process of searching easier:

1. Go online: Hitting up the Internet for information is a great way to find out just about anything these days, and getting a grant is no exception. Web sites like nozasearch list more than a million different charitable foundations that provide money to grant-seekers. Searching the nozasearch database can not only give you insight into who is giving money and what their process it, but you can also get valuable tax information as well. The site features the public tax records of a number of great foundations that issue grants because these records are a matter of public record. These numbers can also assist you in formulating your approach, as it is a bit easier to do when you do know what a charitable foundation has done in the past. Looking at the history of giving can give you insight into how often and how much the foundation contributes to organizations or individuals in your particular field.

2. Ask around: If you know of anyone who has received a grant in the past, ask him or her where they received their funding and what the process entailed. In some cases, they may be able to give you the contact name or number they used to help you get your foot in the door. Ask them for advice in your approach and find out how stringent the acceptance process was. For example, if they were turned down multiple times or required to go through a difficult acceptable process, you can either prepare yourself to endure the effort or decide that ultimately, you may want to seek out a foundation that specializes in working with people who have little to no experience in seeking out grants.

3. Purchase a resource book: Visit your local book retailer and search for a resource book on charitable foundations. Some books will provide you with information on submitting a proposal as well as contact names, numbers, Web sites, address and more. You can then find charitable donations that fall in your category and approach them first. Moreover, you will have a list at your fingertips that you can refer back to at any time.

All of these are great ways to find a foundation that issue charitable donation, however, going online to sites like Noza Search is preferable as they are able to update information as it changes. This way, you know when a foundation has changed its method of donation or is no longer issuing grants. For additional information on Charitable Donations currently issuing grant money and the information you need to approach them, visit

How can child labor be eradicated?

Posted by Prue Morland | 1:43 AM | 0 comments »

A few days back British clothing company Primark has dropped three Indian suppliers after a BBC investigation revealed that the manufacturing units were using child labor. A year before Gap also found child labor being used by one of its suppliers in India. Such reports and revelation shock the entire human community and the general reaction is: let's not buy their products which will teach them a lesson. But one also needs to think about the fact that why and how these children got into this work.

Poverty is the main reason which pushes these children to start working at such an early age. By working they will earn some thing which can be used to increase the earnings of the family. The statements that these suppliers make in defense that the parents bring their kids to work, and sometimes out of curiosity the kids take up the work, though they sound ridiculous, such statements are not total falsehoods. No, this writer is not defending the culprits. Sometimes the parents do try and get there kids job at these factories if the chance is offered, because the first thing that is in their mind is to run their family, get the money for buying the essential commodities. More members of the family working more the better. Hence starts the vicious cycle of child labor with poverty.

It's been discussed for a long time that India is making economic progress but is the market development is creating an all round effect. The government of this country needs to ensure that the market prosperity must be percolating down the social order. And evils like child labor should be eradicated as soon as possible.

The process of making poverty history will begin with investing the future of the country in the children including the poor children who start working at early age. Giving proper education to the children of the country should be the top priority. Education is the key that will empower them to not only decide the future for themselves but their decisions will also bear positive effect on the fortunes of the country. Their work capacity and quality will improve with proper education and they too will lead a dignified life.

Special Education society needs to be set up which will provide free education to those children coming from economically backward families. Not just free education these societies must also provide all other facilities and fulfill the requirements for free like books clothes, stationary, convenience etc to send a child to school, so that their poor parents should have no worries about spending any thing on their schooling. Such child development programs are run by the government but those seeking these services outnumber the service providing agency's capacity. Charitable organizations and trusts need to come forward to provide such services along with the governmental agencies working towards eradicating child labor and working on various child development programs.

Charitable trusts like Guru Nanak Garib Niwaj Education Society are set up by individual person like Baba Amar Singhji, work to help the poor children attain a dignified life. If you are vowing to not to buy from brands whose manufacturers use child labor? Then you can donate that amount for such child development programs run by charitable institutions.

Examples of people volunteering

Shona Rattley - Emergency services team leader

"part of my life from an early age…"

Shona is 38 and married with a 15 year old daughter. She works full time with the education authority in Wiltshire. She has been a volunteer since 2001 and still manages to find time to help WRVS emergency services.

"WRVS has been part of my life from an early age - my mother received her 30-year service award recently, having joined as a young wife.

"In those years she was at one time or the other involved in almost all the WRVS projects which were running in the area, including organising Meals on Wheels deliveries and starting up the Books on Wheels service. Organising the local emergency services team was also part of her life until very recently."

In her time with WRVS she has been involved in many different Emergency services call-outs including;

• helping at the Fairford airbase in Gloucestershire handing out food and drinks to the large contingent of police officers monitoring an anti-war demonstration

• feeding the night shift police monitoring people leaving the Summer Solstice at Stonehenge

• on stand-by to set up and run an information centre in the event of a major disaster at the Royal International Air tattoo, again at the Fairford base. WRVS also looked after a special enclosure for disabled people watching the air display

Michael Ryan - Emergency services volunteer

"I want to inspire young people to volunteer…"

Michael is 21 years old and has been involved with WRVS since the age of 15.

Michael is a people person and he hopes to start a career in the police service.

"I used to be a carer for my Gran when she was ill with cancer. It was my Gran who inspired me to stay active with WRVS as I realised that there must be many more people like her in similar circumstances. It's so difficult in this day and age to 'be there' for your Mum, Dad, Gran or Grandad. Everyone's got to go where their work takes them and that does of course mean limited contact with older relatives and friends.

"It's important for people to acknowledge that they can't always be there, so wouldn't it be nice if they had the peace of mind to know that someone else was there, looking after them and checking on their health and welfare. It's an option we all have, we only have to look into our local community, wherever we live, and see if we can give a bit of our time to someone older.

WRVS (http://www.wrvs.org.uk) is one of the UK's largest charities and voluntary organisations. WRVS aims to give older people the opportunity and choice to get more out of life. If you are interested in voluntary work or would like to make a charity donation, please contact WRVS.

If youre thinking about a charity car donation Im going to outline some of the facts you should know. You can receive a nice IRS tax deduction for your old car or used car and help someone in need in the process. Its called car donation or charity car donation when you give a charity organization your vehicle - automobile, car, truck, ATV, RV, airplane or any other vehicle which might or might not be in useable condition. In the U.S. charitable vehicle donations provide a great tax benefit for the donor and its rapidly gaining in popularity. First you want to learn the mission of any charity youre considering. If you have a specific charity in mind for the car donation do some research on it, especially if youre not sure how reputable the charity is. There are many national and local charitable organizations that advertise in newspapers or on television and openly announce they are looking for car donations. You have probably seen some of these, but are they your best choice?Sometimes charities will use the car donations themselves in their daily charitable activities - sometimes to transport people. Perhaps they may use it to transport people in need to doctors appointments, social worker appointments, hospital tests, etc. More often though the vehicles will be sold at auction or off their car lots to raise money for the charitys programs or their general fund. Yes it is not common knowledge that many charities have their own car lots. Many Goodwill Industry stores have their own. Many people do choose to donate their used and unwanted cars in order to help others. If you buy a new car or own a car that isnt running, you can consider donating the car, truck, or other vehicle. You can also donate boats, RVs, ATVs, airplanes and other vehicles or even real estate depending on what your charity accepts. Your donation is tax deductible which helps you and the organization that you donated the vehicle to.Day in and out, charities provide services and needed support to people in communities all over the nation. While some may receive government grants or private donations, this is never enough to take care of the many causes they pursue. Charity car donations are a planned part of the non-profit organizations budget. These vehicle donations can make the difference in the kind of services they can offer. So if you donate vehicles you will help these organizations continue to function In a nutshell, car donation means acquiring old cars from donors and donating them to charity organizations. There are car donation companies that are intermediaries or links between the donors and the people who benefited from these donations. They are a big help in funding for charities. Some companies even help organizations that do not have their own charity programs. The car donation companies can auction the donated car or other vehicle in the marketplace and the money is given to the charities or the car can be used by the charity organization or be sold on their used car lot. When you give your car to charity you are given a charitable gift IRS Tax Receipt. The vehicle donations when made to a reputable and bona fide charitable organization are tax-deductible. The IRS allows the donor-taxpayer to claim a tax deduction on the estimated value of the vehicle up to $500. The donor of the car or vehicle must have title, so make sure you have it handy when you start the process.Make sure to ask if the charity handles the car donations - have their own charity car donation program or pays an outside company to do it. If the for-profit company handles the car or vehicle donations, find out just how much money the charity receives from the sale and how much will go to the for-profit company. You will see car donation program in just about every major city in every state in the U.S., including California, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York and Michigan. There are no laws preventing charities from accepting these types of donations. Some of the car donation charities you might see are: Target, Purple Heart, Kidney Foundation, Salvation Army, Goodwill Industries and various cancer organizations. In any case you will greatly benefit for your charity car donation both in claiming a nice car donation tax deduction or benefit and in helping charities continue to operate so they can help people in need.

Children coming from economically backward families are encouraged by their parents to drop out from schools which they cannot afford and start working at an early age. Numerous times we have thought of helping the children begging or peddling at the traffic signals, working at construction sites or the roadside stalls. Guru Nanak Garib Niwaj Education Society is working towards putting such children back to the right place which is- the school.

Guru Nanak Garib Niwaj Education Society was started by Baba Amar Singh Ji to work towards the welfare children coming from below-the-poverty line families ,who generally don't get the chance to go to school or complete their schooling. Baba Amar Singh Ji started the school in October 2006 with 12 kids of laborers who were not only provided with free education but food clothes books healthcare and other basic facilities. The success of the school and the society is proved by the increase in the number of students enrolled in the school and the increase in the number of admission seekers every year.Baba Amar Singh Ji , the founder (of Guru Nanak Garib Niwaj Education Society) has also funded a Muslim school for girls. To help this Society, to continue its endeavor to work for the child development, do make contributions to the organization.

Guru Nanak Garib Niwaj Education Society is founded by Baba Amar Singh Ji who is also the founder and chairman of Nanaksar Thath Isher Darbar which has also done religious, educational cultural and community development works in India and across the globe.

Using Charity to Help Children Online

Posted by Prue Morland | 12:43 AM | 0 comments »

Almost since time began, all over the world, there has been a need to help children. In past times, the only way to give charity to children was through medians such as checks or cash donations. However, with the invention of the Internet, there are now more ways to help and protect children. The Internet can be a powerful tool in the aide of children's welfare.

Children are generally overlooked for the most part. There really are very few people to speak up for them and their rights. In actuality, children have very little rights. For many years, children's advocacy centers and child protective services were some of the only organizations that even tried to help children get any kind of rights or fair treatment. Of course, there are also charity programs that exist to help and support children. But sometimes those organizations are hard to find. Also, there have been organizations in the past that said they were going to use donation money for needy children, but instead, they used the money for wealthy gain. Shady organizations, like these, make people wary of donating money. Even if it is to a genuine organization that really is trying to make better lives for underprivileged children. This is a sad state of things because many children need all the help they can get.

With the invention of the Internet, charity is easier than ever to provide. Many organizations that were obscured before can now be easily found on the Internet. This makes it even easier to help children. Additionally, there are many sites on the Internet that can uncover any scam charities that may be out there, and point a donator to an organization that really will helping children. There are many other services on the Internet that are also good sites to help children other than charity sites. These sites do things such as: try and eliminate child pornography, keep child abuse at bay, and keep children that are using the Internet away from child predators. These sites help make the world a better place for children to live in. For many of these children's charities and welfare sites, donations can be made through the Internet with either a credit card or PayPal account. These options make it even easier to donate to aide needy children around the world. It is nice to know that if someone wishes to help a child, all they have to do is look on the Internet for an appropriate median to use for their donation. This makes it much easier for children to get the help and funding that they need to survive.

The invention of the Internet brought many new ways of doing things. Charity is one of those things, as the Internet makes it easier than ever to give to a good cause. It is always good to help children whenever it is possible, and the Internet makes it a breeze. Helping children through the Internet is a great way to make the world a little better.

Giving Directly To The Poor

Posted by Prue Morland | 12:43 PM | 0 comments »

Helping unfortunate strangers is a virtue seldom practiced. Most people rely on the government or private agencies to help those in need. But for every dollar that is supposed to go to the needy only ten cents gets there, the rest is spent on administrative costs. Some executive workings for charities have incomes of over a million dollars a year. They have little concern for others. Human greed and corruption is only partially the blame.

Fund raising is not easy. It takes talent to get people to part with their hard earned money. Some fundraisers are paid commissions as high as fifty percent. They deserve it because without their talents there would be nothing collected. Not only politicians use fund raisers but also organizations that help the needy. A poor person would not even get a dime if the fundraiser was not collecting a dollar. This system has been going on since the beginning of time. The fund raiser has always been a needed part of society.

Houses of worship are known for their humanitarianism. They are always speaking about the poor and how important it is to help them. But they could never exist without charitable donations. That is why the poor box is passed around at religious services. Most of that money goes to church workers who have to eat and pay their expenses. The rest is given to the poor. The success of a church leader is based on how much is collected. The most popular ones collect millions. They could be called fund raisers rather than raisers of the spirit. But without them religious organizations would go broke.

There are better ways to help the poor or unfortunate besides having others doing it for you. The best way is to deal directly with them. The first thing you should do is put a lot of thought into the type of person you would like to help. We all have our preferences. Donors want their money going to people that deserves it most, not the lazy types that do not make any attempt to help themselves. The most deserving I believe are those that are the victims of unfortunate circumstances. Workers who have lost their jobs and are on the verge of having to lose their homes are most deserving of our compassion. We don't have to go far to find them.

The anonymous donor is the most virtuous because what is given is not for recognition but for compassion. If you would like to help, but don't know how to start, put whatever is affordable into an unsigned envelope. Drop it into the mailbox of some unfortunate person. In that way you will be eliminating the necessity of the fundraiser and every dollar will go directly to those that need it most. If you would rather let the fundraisers or the government be responsible for helping the poor or unfortunate you are neglecting your duty as a humanitarian.

The first fifty years of editorial stock photography were lean years for photographers.

Few photographers imagined their photos were worth much more than the immediate compensation they received from a magazine, book publisher or assignment client.

In addition, to save filing space, many photographers threw out extra "baggage" of "outdated" images. Little did they realize they were tossing away a gold mine.

In the early days, some photographers had special agreements with their publishers or newspaper and magazine editors that ownership of the photos bought, could revert back to them (the photographers) after three years. In some cases it was a shorter period of time. (This was in the days before the revision of the

Nonprofit donations have become a topic of high interest. If you are not yet familiar with what nonprofit donations mean, then it is time for you to start learning. Why? Because you will be surprised to find out that such donations can help you in numerous advantageous ways.

So, if you are working in an organization that fights for good causes, then nonprofit donations are your thing. But even if you own a business, you can still benefit from such donations. The first thing that a non profit donation can offer you is funds - and who can say "no" to extra money? But besides money, there are a few other benefits worth mentioning.

If you ask some individuals that have opted for nonprofit donations in the past, you will see that the most important thing you can achieve is awareness. In other words, a non profit donation operates just like an ad. Only in this case, we are talking about a free advertisement. And you all know that, with the right project, the right ad and a little determination, you can gain appreciation and respect from clients or partners.

You are probably convinced by now that organizing a nonprofit donation is a great idea. Now, the question remains: how exactly can you start? What do you need to do in order to have successful nonprofit donations? For starters, simply observe if there are such donations in your community. You will see that some businesses have small boxes where they collect money near the registers.

How can you select the most suitable jar for your nonprofit donations? Even if you might be inclined to think that this is a minor aspect, the fact is that it is quite relevant. So, your collection box should definitely be see-through, in order to stimulate the donors to contribute. Next, your container has to have a small opening, so that nobody can remove money from it. If you are really determined to find the ideal box, then you need to make sure that you get one with a lock.

But the jar you use is not the only small detail that makes a difference. Along with the nonprofit donations container, you must have an appealing ad. What for, you ask? Well, this ad should promote your project in order to determine people to support your cause.

You can not actually start your nonprofit donations without answering some basic questions first. For starters, what exactly do you have in mind? What are the main benefits and results of your project? How much money do you need? And how exactly are you planning to spend them?

It is not mandatory to have a specific project, actually. Some organizations that help children or elder people opt for nonprofit donations in order to get money for daily expenses and activities.

At this point, you are ready to plan your future nonprofit donations. If you manage to attract people's interest, you will definitely benefit a lot from these nonprofit donations. Use the funds optimally and achieve your noble causes!

Nonprofit donations are the fast way of sourcing funds for your charity or any worthy cause. Website InCharityD by Livia Monroe provides trusted advice and newest practical tips to improving your results.

Issues of world poverty, lack of clean water, drought, famine and the lack of basic services seem like problems that are too big for any one person to tackle, and they probably are. But we need to ask ourselves, what is it that we can do to help people around the world to reinvent themselves to create better opportunities and lives other than simply give money.

More important than money are ideas. Ideas can be much more like a life compass and provide direction for the future rather than just give a small item that solves a need for just today. An idea can change a life, change a family, change a community and change a world. Just one idea, nurtured and grown with love and care can create better lives in distant places.

Business is often thought about as being cut-throat, mean and nasty but a new form of entrepreneur has emerged that creates thriving and successful enterprises but focuses services on a need and solution that improves the quality of people's lives. This new type of entrepreneur creates social enterprises that can not only operate as a fully functioning for-profit business but reinvest profits back into the business to carry on the mission of hope and help.

The Myvesta Foundation has launched a new website, Business Idea of the Day, to provide ideas to spark the imagination and creativity of entrepreneurs around the world. These ideas are as simple as needing a bucket and sponge to start a new business or as complex and highly technical ideas that involve satellites and new technology.

People that never thought that they could own their own business have found themselves as budding entrepreneurs with just a cell phone to sell telephone access to local villagers, they've invested in small man powered irrigation pumps to help grow more crops, and even purchased small water cleansing systems to purify otherwise contaminated water for a village to drink.

The lack of access to opportunity does not occur only in distant lands down dirt roads, but also in the inner cities of America and Europe. Economic creativity is a vital key to help revitalize areas that suffer from a lack of investment and opportunity and rather than needing a hand out to make life better, an idea and a hand up through distant mentorship can be even more powerful.

It would be wrong to assume that the lack of economic opportunity is only a problem of the poor, those in inner cities or those lacking basic supplies. Even middle class individual and families, weighed down by personal debt and unable to gain more income through regular employment can find the ideas on Business Idea of the Day to create new financial opportunity to get out of debt without bankruptcy, credit counseling, another debt consolidation loan or other outside assistance.

All business ideas are welcome and with the help and support of many people around the world, hopefully the Business Idea of the Day site can become a global resource for people of all ages and opportunities to use to change a life for the better.

I Support Child Cancer

Posted by Prue Morland | 12:43 PM | 0 comments »

The other day I was at a supermarket and they had a collection box for charity. On the front, it has a sign: "This Store Supports Child Cancer". Of course this is supposed to make us want to shop there more, well, it did. I thought if this supermarket wants to see children dying as much as I do, then the least I can do is spend my hard earned money there.

Of course, we take blessings like child cancer for granted. We don't think about who is funding the fight against children. Someone has to, and I for one am glad that this store has taken some initiative and helped in the battle.

But this store alone can not do everything, the world is a big place. We all need to donate towards the Child Cancer Fund to help get rid of children forever. It is obvious we are not doing enough, as there are still children around. Just the other day I saw a little girl in the street. I jumped out of the shadows where I was hiding and slit her throat, someone has to take some initiative, there were people all around and none of them even attempted to get the girl. I am ashamed to share a species with those plocs.

Car Donation Centers in California

Posted by Prue Morland | 12:43 AM | 0 comments »

Cars are very in demand to many car enthusiasts, they are increasing in number for the last several years, and this is taking financial costs to many Americans. This situation is very tough and a problem to the poor families in the US.

There are 20 percent ratios of American families who are considered poor- they cannot buy a car- expenses is 40.2 percent for their transportation fee as reported by Surface Transportation Policy Project, this is a non-profit organization who studied transportation alternative choices.

In the latest update, increase in gas pricing up to $ 3 plus, the expenses in transport is targeting commuters, this affect to the drivers. Costs that is easy for the pocket is a big problem that until now has no solution. Meanwhile there is a group who come up with an idea to reprocess, repack and drive again techniques so that the transportation expenses will be lessened. The idea here states that To make use of cars that people doesnt use or seems to dislike them, and to let others use it.

The thinking of this type, of donating cars, goes up to a figure of six to seven thousand people who donate cars every year. This thinking in demand to people in US was able to help lots of families; some had been purchase and others to specific charities.

The scheme of reasonable costs in transportation will never be a luxury as told by STPP. This will simply imply the difference in working in a day to day basis and getting their infrequently. This is a circumstance that is very true to all US residents who work in school as medical personnel this is very impractical if you have no car.

Those families whose revenue is low is suffering like those of the other countries world wide for the past several years, several organization is planning for a car, who will have natures, best style for pollution free earth.

The sprawl in the provinces targeting the low generating family will be very difficult for them if they have no car. The STPP we will not be able to fix everything, but we can provide affordable transport in the initial costing of car

Car Donation - Know What Your Options Are

Posted by Prue Morland | 12:43 PM | 0 comments »

In the US it's possible to donate a car, boat or any other vehicle to certain charities, and in return be able to claim a nice tax deduction on your personal income tax return. If your car donation is accepted, the charity takes care of the towing expenses and provides you with the necessary documents you'll need to complete your return. The process for charitable car donation is simple and convenient.

Some charity car donations may not qualify for the tax exemption because of the condition they're in. And if you don't intend to deduct the vehicle donation on your income tax return, no further action is necessary. For cars that sell for less than $500, charities don't need to send you a form, but you'll still be able to deduct up to $500 in taxes.

There are a few exceptions to be aware of in the new tax law regarding the fair market value section: for one example, you may base your deduction on the vehicle's fair market value only if the charity sells it to an individual in need at a discounted price or if the charity uses the car as part of its mission instead of selling it. The donor is responsible to an extent to determine the value of their car donation. If your car, truck, boat, motorcycle, RV or aircraft is no longer of any use to you, it can still go a long way by supporting the charity of your choice.

The donor of the vehicle benefits from the donation by receiving a tax receipt for the highest possible value of the vehicle. With the new rules the donor can deduct only the amount the charity actually receives for the vehicle. One of the exceptions to the new IRS regulations allows the donor to still deduct the fair market value of their vehicle, provided that the charity materially improves the vehicle.

Cars can be donated to the recipients directly or sold and the money given to charity. Some charities have the capability of repairing or performing maintenance on a vehicle and getting it ready for sale. Don't let your unused vehicle go to waste just sitting around.

For states that require smog or safety inspection certificates, you can still donate your vehicle without these documents. But make sure to have your title handy when you call in your donation. It's not common knowledge but some car donors in need of a new vehicle even buy a recently donated and repaired vehicle.

The amount you list on IRS Form 1098-C, Contributions of Motor Vehicles, Boats, and Airplanes will be the gross not net proceeds of the deductible donation. The vehicle is usually marketed by the charity and sold to a buyer in need of a good used vehicle. Some charities, that run their own program instead of hiring a car donation program middleman, are discriminating about which vehicles they will accept, repair and materially improve. They sell most of their vehicles at retail not wholesale.

In some cases charitable car donors can still claim the fair market value for their used vehicles. The charitable organization uses the profit they derive from the vehicle to help fund their specific programs. You may also easily donate your car online to individual charities or to car donation programs.

Regardless of the laws, it's a good idea to protect yourself by having insurance coverage on your vehicle up until the moment it's donated. And best of all, by not selling your car yourself, you don't have to worry about total strangers calling you up to get information about where you live, or coming to your house to see the vehicle. Once you've made the arrangements and received the forms from the charity, have them filled out and ready when the driver comes to pick up the car.

Major charity car donation programs include: the Kidney Foundation Car Donation Program, Target Car Donation Program, and Goodwill Industries Car Donation Program. Other major charity car donation programs include: Make A Wish Foundation and the American Red Cross. Whatever the case, your car donation, like any other charitable donation, will help someone in need and it will make you feel good to help in some way.

Instead of going through the hassles of selling your car yourself you could donate it to a car donation center. These centers are either charities or work together with charities. If the center is an approved one, you will be able to deduct a certain amount of money from your tax return Let us examine some of the car donation centers in San Francisco

Habitat for Humanity in one association which builds homes thought community engagement in partnership with working families. In fact the average price of a home in San Francisco is about $746,000? In choosing this center, you are allowing the homeless to have a roof over their heads.

Car Donation Services or CDS is another association you might one to consider. This car donation center claims that they are able to obtain higher prices from the sale of a vehicle. This in turn would imply that the charity benefits much more from the sale and that you get a greater tax write-off.

San Francisco city chorus is one more car donation center. As implied by its name, this association is concerned with choral classics as well as traditional and folk music. You might want to help them.

The San Francisco SPCA is one car donation center you would like to have recourse to if you love animals. This association is devoted to saving cats and dogs which live in the streets. It also sensitizes people about awareness of the needs and requirements of animals as well as the necessity of having a human-animal bond.

If you choose to donate via Kars4Kids, you might even receive a free vacation voucher for a 2 night 3 day hotel stay. This does in no case impact on the tax deductions or the care given to children. You can thus be rewarded for your donation.

Car4causes in another car donation service that claims that if you deal with them you will be getting higher tax deduction and the charity obtaining more money. According to them, they achieve these results by selling the car through their retail locations rather than through auctions.

Well, you now have a broader idea of the services you might have recourse to. I really hope that you do choose a car donation center instead of selling your car.

Cord blood banking is a relatively new concept. It is only in the last ten years that parents have seriously begun to bank their baby's cord blood. While the practice of banking cord blood is still not common it is becoming more popular as people begin to learn about its benefits.

Cord blood is the blood that remains in umbilical cord after a live birth. Currently the umbilical cord along with the placenta and associated blood are all discarded after birth. Cord blood stem cells have more extensive uses than bone marrow stem cells and do not face the controversy that is associated with embryonic stem cell research.

Cord blood stem cells can develop into various types of cells such as muscle, nerve or blood cells. Since these cells can regenerate immune system and repair damaged cells, they have the potential to treat heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, stroke, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson disease.

Cord blood may indeed be the way of the future. Currently, it can treat more than 75 diseases, immune deficiencies and other conditions. It is effective for treatment of certain types of cancer, blood disorders and auto-immune diseases. The cord blood can be used not only by your child, but also other family members.

In recent stem cell breakthroughs, researchers were able to develop bone and cartilage, and grow mini liver and lung cells from cord blood stem cells. These cells can potentially be transplanted into the body to repair damaged organs, thus overcoming the severe shortages of organ donors. Researches are hopeful that cord blood stem cell transplant can regenerate into organs inside or outside the body and saves many lives. There is less chance of the body rejecting the new organ regenerated from your own cord blood.

There are 2 types of cord blood banks: private and public. If you want to bank your baby's cord blood for use by your child or other family members, then you should choose a private cord blood bank. However, private cord blood banking can be costly as you have to pay for the cord blood collection process and annual storage fees. There are cases you should consider storing cord blood privately. Parents of children of ethnic minorities are encouraged to bank their baby's cord blood as it is difficult to find bone marrow match. Private cord blood banking is also recommended where there's a family history to diseases only treatable with cord blood.

Cord blood stored in a public bank can be used by anyone who needs it.

If you decide to bank your newborn's cord blood, you will need to choose a cord blood bank ahead of the birth, typically at least a month or two before the due date. Once you fill out the paperwork and inform your doctor and hospital about the decision. Many hospitals are not equipped to handle this immediate cord blood collection at the birth and special arrangements may need to be made. The cord blood will be collected and returned to the bank of your choice to be stored for later use if needed.

Cord blood banking is an insurance against future diseases. There have been several cord blood stem cell breakthroughs in recent years. Learn about the miracle of cord blood by visiting

HIV AIDS: Helping Along the Way

Posted by Prue Morland | 12:43 PM | 0 comments »

HIV/AIDS continues to dramatically affect people all over the world despite preventive measures such as educational awareness and testing programs and treatment initiatives such as drug research and development. Even in the United States, where government funding, medical technology, and education would seemingly defeat this disease, the epidemic continues. According to the United States Center for Disease Control (CDC) over 1,000,000 people are living HIV/AIDS in this country and approximately 40,000 new cases are reported each year. Although high, this is a significant drop from the new annual cases reported during 1980's, which approached 150,000.

The statistics from the CDC are an important resource for tracking changes and measuring the impact of efforts, whether focused on treatment or prevention. An overview of recent data reveals important trends. First, prevention awareness and educational programs that aim to inform and promote less risky behavior are reducing the number of new cases within the United States.

Second, despite the efforts of these programs people are continuing to transmit HIV/AIDS. This is largely due to risky behavior revolving around drug use and unprotected sex, but continued lack of HIV/AIDS testing is also to blame. It is estimated that close to thirty percent of people infected with HIV are asymptomatic and do not know it. Routine testing remains major priority, and as such, officials have tried to institute these blood tests as a routine clinical procedure.

Third, while the number of new active cases has decreased, the number of people living with HIV/AIDS has increased. This illustrates the improvements of drug therapy. Successful drug regimes help contain HIV so that it does not become AIDS and help the body fight off opportunistic infections – infections or diseases that can capitalize on a weakened immune system of an HIV/AIDS patient, but not in a healthy person – which are normally the ultimate cause of death.

Thanks to these efforts and more, today's picture is brighter than the past. People with HIV/AIDS are now living longer and healthier lives, but they still face serious health problems. These complications include aversion to medicine, afflictions stemming from a weakened immune system, and adverse effects of the infection itself. Because of these on-going vulnerabilities, in 2004 HIV/AIDS was reclassified from an infectious disease to a chronic disease. As such, the treatment strategy, adopted from the Guide to Primary Care for People with HIV/AIDS, stresses a comprehensive long-term model that involves clinical attention, proactive community groups, and self-management.

Within this model, the contributions of community groups provide HIV/AIDS patients with resources and support to improve their lives. Services and direct care programs help patients with financial matters, housing, nutritional needs, counseling, support groups, and transportation. Given that the national budgets are invested in large-scale educational programs and research, individual impact is felt most strongly when contributions go to organizations that provide services directly to individuals in need.

Nearly 200,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year and over 40,000 will die from it. There are seven different types of breast cancer, some more severe and with a lower survival rate than others.

One breast cancer type called inflammatory breast cancer, or IBC, is a unique and aggressive kind that is rare, accounts for 1 - 5% of all cases, but deadly. It is one of the only breast cancer types that have no lumps, which makes it one of the most undetectable and scariest.

There are four breast cancer signs that could mean you have inflammatory breast cancer:

o Skin around the breast is hot to the touch

o Breasts are asymmetrical and were not before

o The skin becomes red or pink

o There is discharge from the nipples

Below are six frequently asked questions about inflammatory breast cancer.

What should you do if you if you have these symptoms?

If any of these signs persist for more than a week, speak to a physician.

What is the median age affected?

Women 45 – 55 are more susceptible to this specific type of breast cancer.

How do you identify inflammatory breast cancer?

Through surgical biopsy; IBC cannot be identified through Mammogram, Ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), or Core biopsy.

What is the survival rate?

IBC has a 40% survival rate over a five year period. Many times the surgeon may remove the breast too early and cause a reoccurrence.

How is Inflammatory Breast Cancer Treated?

Chemotherapy before surgery, as well as drugs such as trastuzumab and lapatinib.

BOILERPLATE:

If you know of anyone or you yourself are being faced with the signs of inflammatory breast cancer, see a physician as soon as possible. If you have already been diagnosed seek out support through the MyNBCF breast cancer message boards.

The IRS has taken steps to take the guesswork and confusion associated with car donation tax deduction with a new law. When January 1, 2005 rolled around, you were able to deduct the full price that the charity of your choice receives for the sale of your car.

Many times people were hesitant to donate their car to a charity that so desperately needs the help simply because of the hassle involved in finding the fair market value of their vehicle if the vehicle was worth more than $500. Often the donator had to look up the car they were looking to donate in the infamous Blue Book to get an estimate for the fair market value in order to get the full benefits of a car donation tax deduction.

With the new law if your car sells for more than $500 at the auction where your car will be sold, the charity is obligated to send you a receipt that has your name and vehicle identification number or VIN of your car. They must also state that your donation was arms length which means that the person or organization you donated your car to is not related to you in any way whether it is your family or a business associate. They must also include the selling price of your car. This is the fair market value price. It is that simple. No more searching through records and books trying to find the right numbers to make your car donation tax deduction.

If the car you donate is sold for less than $500, it is up to you to determine the fair market value as long as the figure is below $500. The tax receipt that the charity is required to send you will be less detailed and will merely acknowledge your donation. The information included on the tax receipt will be your name, the date of the donation and a brief description of the vehicle.

The simplification of the laws concerning car donation tax deduction is good news for charities. As more people realize the good their car donation can do for others and the ease in which you can itemize your car donation tax deduction, they will be eager to help. Spread the word so that more people donate more cars to help even more people.

Fundraising Made Simple

How to effectively make a fundraiser less time consuming and more cost efficient with online fundraising capability.

Fundraising through various activities as sales, silent auctions, walk-a-thons, races, or entertainment events is a popular revenue generator for charitable and non-profit organizations. However, quite a few obstacles exist in the pursuit of running a successful fundraiser, including lacking or overworked volunteers, limited payment methods, limited reach, and overall process inefficiencies.

Fundraising organizers are realizing that in order to complete the event with a significant amount of raised revenue, it must be run as efficiently and resourcefully as a business. Websites, online payment capability, and electronic payment processing are three key factors that can help overcome many of fundraising's obstacles.

A website with online payment functionality not only enables your fundraiser to reach past the local neighborhood, but helps to automate processes. Customers can enter their own information into the secure online form and the transaction is processed automatically. Volunteers no longer have to spend countless hours sorting paper checks and making trips to the bank.

Donors also appreciate the ease of being able to give donations online as their own busy schedules permit—instead of having to make time during regular business hours. They also like being able to choose from a variety of payment options including credit cards, ACH direct-debits, and the ability to give smaller amounts on a recurring schedule, rather than a larger one-time donation.

All of these options pay-off for fundraisers. Read on to learn about one Boy Scouts Troop that simplified and automated the entire order process for its annual fundraiser by adding online fundraising functionality.

The Boy Scouts of America are well known for their good deeds and outdoor activities. To support these activities and charitable events, Boy Scout Troops hold fundraisers. Troop 970's most important fundraiser is its annual Mulch Sale, which promotes teamwork, instills personal commitment, and helps Scouts pay for High Adventure camping trips throughout the United States.

As Troop 970's Mulch Sale grew in size in recent years, so did the fundraising challenges it faced, including cumbersome order tracking, inability to automatically capture customer information, untimely deposits of revenue, and limited payment options.

To simplify the process, and to provide more flexible purchase options, the Troop adopted an online fundraising system with a securely hosted custom-branded online payment form, enabling it to take orders and accept payments from customers online. Customers could pay via credit card or ACH direct-debit from a checking account, and the system processed the transaction and automatically deposited the collected funds into Troop 970's bank account.

With custom field capability, the system accepted additional detailed information the Troop required. In this case, customers were able to provide the exact location where they wanted the mulch stacked. Using a secure password, BSA volunteers could access order information, and once the system showed the payment had cleared, the volunteers could deliver the mulch, as requested.

With sales approaching 20,000 bags, Troop 970's 2007 Mulch Sale was a resounding success. Online fundraising enabled the Troop to manage both the financial and logistical aspects of the sale more effectively and efficiently, and it created a customer database that the Troop plans to use for future fundraiser marketing.

Known as the powerhouse of the cell mitochondria are responsible for providing energy to any living cell. The presence of mitochondria in a cell is usually seen as a sign of evolution and both plants and animals have mitochondria as a part of their cells. In fact the reason why viruses are considered half living and half dead is because they lack basic cellular structures like mitochondria. Mitochondrial diseases usually occur due to impaired mitochondrial functioning resulting from defective DNA present in the mitochondria. However before we discuss diseases it is important to know how mitochondria actually multiply and inherit DNA.

Just like every cell in the body has DNA similarly mitochondria too has DNA. The first thing to remember is that mitochondria have lesser DNA information stored in them and all the DNA present in mitochondria is inherited from the mother. When mitochondria divide the DNA present in the original mitochondria is distributed randomly into the new mitochondria, this means that a genetic defect can actually be amplified through random divisions and over a period of time the number of mitochondria with defective DNA can increase. Mitochondrial diseases usually occur when the number of mitochondria with defective DNA in the body or a particular organ is high; this is known as "threshold expression".

The good news is that mitochondria do not carry out all cellular functions of the body and it is possible for a cell to survive even with defective mitochondrial DNA, however when the number of defective mitochondria is large the organ that has defective mitochondria is impaired. In fact this is why expression of mitochondrial diseases is different in different people; the defect maybe the same but the part of the body that is affected can be different. The above stated fact makes diagnosis of mitochondrial diseases very difficult. More often than not it takes more than just one test or diagnosis to confirm mitochondrial diseases.

Mitochondrial diseases are usually expressed in a variety of ways like seizures, muscle wasting, low blood sugar etc. People suffering from mitochondrial diseases usually exhibit more than one symptom and hence the diagnosis of such a person is difficult. Since the mitochondria are responsible for providing energy to a cell, if the defective mitochondria are present in the nerves or muscles the effects are more severe. Patients with mitochondrial conditions that affect the nerves or muscles usually have poor co-ordination and exhibit poor muscular control and muscle wasting.

Since the symptoms of mitochondrial diseases are very diverse it is not easy to classify all patients into a single group, however there are a few symptoms that are usually associated with mitochondrial diseases. A patient suffering from mitochondrial disease can exhibit dementia, hypoglycaemia, muscle wasting, seizures, diabetes and other generic symptoms. In fact it requires considerable expertise to diagnose a patient with mitochondrial disease, since there is no single test or genetic marker that can pin point to mitochondrial disease the diagnosis of mitochondrial disease is usually a combination of tests and symptoms that a patient exhibits.

Diagnosis of Mitochondrial diseases

Unlike cancer and other diseases, there is no known marker test or set pattern that can help in diagnosing mitochondrial diseases. Diagnosis of mitochondrial diseases is purely based on the symptoms that a patient exhibits. Since mitochondrial diseases actually have different symptoms depending on the body organ that is affected sometime diagnosis of mitochondrial diseases can take weeks or months. Another problem with effective diagnosis of mitochondrial disease is that usually patients show improvement for a limited period of time when the symptoms are treated. Usually it takes more than one symptom of mitochondrial disease to develop to help in pin pointing the symptoms to mitochondrial diseases. In most cases blood tests and genetic tests usually help in effective diagnosis of mitochondrial diseases.

Fundraising Made Simple

Buying a new car is a great experience especially after months of review and searching for just the right vehicle to meet your needs. But in your excitement and in the luxury of smelling that new car smell, don't forget about your old car.

While many consumers trade in their cars or sell them to other buyers, is there something more significant that you can do with your old car? Absolutely!

When you donate your old car to charity you can not only benefit yourself but also a worthy cause. Let's look at the positives of donating a car to a charitable organization:

1. Tax Write-off. When you donate a car to a charity, you receive a deductible tax benefit equal to the price that your vehicle was sold for.

2. Tax Deduction. If the charity of your choice decides to use your vehicle in a way that is defined by the Tax Code instead of selling it – your tax deduction is based upon the current fair market value or (i.e. Kelly Blue Book value) of your donated car.

3. Knowledge of a Good Thing Done. Giving to a charity is one of the best rewards in and of itself. You are helping someone else in a way that is significant and car donations go a long way in making certain that charities fulfill its mission and its vision while not going over their budget.

4. Increase Storage, Decrease Clutter. An old car that you are not using just takes up space in your garage, driveway or yard that you could use for other things such as storage.

5. Save on Unnecessary Maintenance and Expense. Owning a car, even if you don't drive it, will cost you money as you will still have to potentially pay property taxes, renew your vehicle registrations and keep your vehicle inspections current as well as keep up the maintenance on the car to ensure its optimal performance and drivability. These are rather high demands for something that you do not even plan to use

Donating your used car to charity would be the best option for you. Think of what you will save as well as what you will be given in return for your donation. You won't have to maintain the car, give up storage space for a vehicle that stays parked most of the time. Additionally, giving helps make the world a better place. There simply isn't any better deal that that!
